@@ruturaj6787 Actually, he didn't do anything in America, he was silent virtually the entire time in America. It was Sheela that did anything. And to hink they ruled America? Where are they now? What is their land now? I like some of what they taught, but Sheela fell into that same dark trap of thinking she needed to rule others, to win her way by force. Never did she learn how to be a politician, how to make friends with the community. She was a tyrant.

Daaammnn..never really thought about it but prophets like jesus nd muhammad really did something like osho but unlike osho they were extremely i mean unbelievably successful. After watchin the documentary..I realized how friggin hard it can be to change the mind of n entire civilisation/society. But jesus nd muhammad nailed it..as much as I respect osho I cant deny that he certainly failed miserably compared to these 2..naa they cant even be compared I mean just read the history mfs!! Gotta respect em fr that if not fr any other achievement. They both were poor..academically NOT very educated..frm n illiterate society(muhammad). Started off their project ALONE!!..without any initial or foundational support like osho had..OMG nd I can just keep going on about it🤯 Look I'm NOT a muslim or a Christian. My actual point isn't to look down on osho OR to compare anybody really. All I'm tryna say is that..U CAN DO IT! Like if u have n idea or a vision that's very grand..makes u think that naa that's just too big fr me to do it/start off alone..dnt be scared or afraid of actually trying. Edit: after researching well more like googling a lil more I found out that Muhammad was/is much more successful then jesus..AGAIN that's not the point. just said it or else ppl would distract by the fact that I depicted jesus nd muhammad a bit inaccurately

Agreed. The producers intended to show the social repercussion in a general way those years. The point is not the Osho's philosophy, but the consequences of his arrival in the U.S. We need empathy and rational thinking, like the moment context they are living in the 80's etc... We all know the U.S., today, has no only Christians, but budha's followers, atheists, spiritists, and other beliefs. The only thing I'm really sure to say is both sides are the only ones to have the authorithy to relate their experiences. We must be less passional and more rational in documentaries like this.

This is a classic example that no country or society in the world would accept or tolerate living harmoniously with people who have beliefs different from their own. This can be observed not only in present times but also throughout history, including refugee crises. However, India stands out as a historical example of a country that has accepted and embraced people from all walks of life. Despite facing some challenges, India's ability to foster harmony among diverse groups surpasses that of many sophisticated Western democratic countries.

You can form your own opinion based on your own knowledge and world view. If you watch objectively - you never know who will be the villain or the hero of even anti-hero in every scene. I find myself forever in the middle not being able to take a side. And that in essence is the beauty of this documentary. It leaves me questioning what is fact or fiction RE this story in history. That's the point, though. They're not going to show that in the documentary, because I feel like they want to paint the cult in a more sympathetic light. Gautam Buddha was not so widely misunderstood - he was misunderstood only in Bihar* *They were not so fortunate as I am. I am misunderstood all over the world! With me starts a new era of the misunderstanding becoming so wide. But with it there is a great hope too* *If there are so many people who misunderstand me, there are millions of people who love me too.Those millions who love me, who understand me, may be silent - that’s why you hear only the voices which are against me. I watched the whole series. There are major gaps. No mention of Osho being asked to sign in as “David Washington” in a jail in Oklahoma. No mention of Osho being poisoned with thallium while in jail or toxicology confirmation of heavy metal poisoning from samples sent to a lab in London. They did show that the trip from North Carolina to Portland, Oregon took weeks. There was no mention of the actual plea Osho made. They show several people saying they were glad Osho pleaded guilty. The actual plea was an Alford plea, a guilty plea by a defendant who claims to be innocent. Finally, they jumped from deportation to Pune Two, omitting that Osho was refused entry or forcibly removed from 21 countries (“the world tour”) before returning to India.

Read Tilopa, Milarepa, Lao Tsu, Chuang Tsu, Yoka Daishi, Theologica Mystica, The Golden Sutras of Pythagoras, Buddha. People have been saying exactly the same things Osho said for thousands of years. Yet the established order does not like people to understand their own consciousness, awareness and enlightenment. The established order would prefer the masses to be indoctrinated and set against themselves by the rotten priests and cunning, guilt tripping politicians, creating a schizophrenic, subservient and docile humanity -that is easy to control. Properly understood the authors listed above provide the wisdom necessary to break the rotten society's conditioning, to gain a clarity of awareness -and to become a master of one's own consciousness. Also stay with the question, 'what is the true nature of the seeker within you?' -and at the right moment a teacher will appear.

@victoria man He didn't care, he probably has a narcissistic personality disorder, he wanted to implement his beautiful ideas on how we can live by force, the sad thing is his followers thought they were awaken when they were not, they were merely following Osho as some kind of god, which he has said since the start, that he did not intend to do it, that said he probably manipulated people for his own gain, this is why people get mixed feelings, hate or love towards Osho, he thought that his system would produce peace in america, but that was what his followers did to him I believe, the amount of power they gave him, made him into such man, another possibility is that he was aware of everything, did all the wrong things what we normal humans beings do, proving his point, that despite his beautiful ideas on basically everything, he can be seem as an evil man, as he is just... a man, you can learn about his beautiful views and still decline his path, you do not have to take his path, but you sure hell can get tips on how to live better from a genius insane man that was after power and admiration.

Anyone else think it's very interesting that the documentary makers never even bothered to show any of Osho's actual philosophy, in Wild Wild Country, when there are endless recorded video lectures of his to choose from? Why intentionally leave out what the man stood for, and what the followers were there listening to? Why did they choose to completely OMIT all of his ideas from this documentary? And why did most people not even notice this fact that I am pointing out? Anyone who reads this , I encourage you to check out what the man was actually SAYING.

One of the bits of old news footage in this doc features a so-called expert outlining the potential problems with the growth of the cult. Unfortunately, every metric she used to condemn the cult was applicable to major mainstream churches.
@theDonRua
@theDonRua 4 жыл бұрын
I thought the doc was pretty sympathetic to Osho, and left his legacy up to the public to pursue further and decide. It even pointed out the tremendous surge in books available. But Osho nor his teachings were the point of the docuseries. Don't let your love and passions get in the way of reason. The story was about religious bigotry and fear, the use of power, as well as the darker side of ambition, organizations, etc. What Osho taught or didn't teach, was not binge material for cable tv. A commune leadership that tried to murder people, poison a town, take over a town, train a militia, those were the salient points of the story. It never came down one side or the other about the core teachings. (though i would like to understand what the disparity between expressing every free love how they wish, while dressing like monochromatic automatons. Or what buying 20 Rolls and drugging homeless people have to do with enlightenment)

@@BlueberryCheesecake8 you seem very simple-minded. What happened BEFORE all the drastic measures that the commune took? THE BIGOTRY STARTED IT ALL. THE HARASSMENT AND BIGOTRY. Ramandeep 971 I think you’re obviously biased here. The film did a good job just bringing this into documentary form for those who never heard about it. The interviews were the compelling part of the film and those weren’t taken from Wikipedia, . And it was done without it being one-sided. But you obviously have a hard time accepting the negative side to the Rajneesh commune. If you watched it through, you see that it was left open ended...there was no winner in this. If anything it is a very appropriate time to be talking about this as we are most divided... and you seem to be someone who would give rise to our division. Try to see both sides like the documentary tries to do. This isn’t about who was right or wrong. It’s all about perspective

One of my biggest takeaways from the show is how incredibly competent Sheela seemed to be at organizing and getting things done. Unless there was alot they didn't show of leadership, in 4 years she blew that thing up bigtime, while Osho was a recluse. A town, medical lab ,police force, self-sustaining (likely by people turning over all their possessions ala Scientology), but still. She seems like a very competent women, but too arrogant and a ignorant of how to work with competing interests. A leader like her will build like mad, but rub others the wrong way, when they prick her, she will prick back twice, and the spiral of violence will continue to one group is defeated. She's ignorant in that way, but definitely smart in others. A savvy leader would have worked with the locals, understood what tehy wanted, helped to give what they wanted and make friends of them, then the county, then the state. They cuold have built somethign much larger, but their ego got in the way. Townspeople could hear couples having sex day and night, see them out in the open. That's not how you manage growth. You have places and ways to express somethings. You don't swamp a town people people all in 'uniforms', that creates fear, worry. Everyone has seen deadly cults come and go. You say you are different? ACT different. Prove you are different. Engage the world you live in, and learn how to accommodate your culture with others, and respect each other. Yes they had a handful of 40 bigots around, or maybe just fearful ignorant people, but trying to screw them was not 'smart' leadership. They would have been easy to win over with more nuanced leadership.
