I hate to be a buzzkill but I wish more people in my tribe were more in to their culture so we can have beautiful music like this more often but theyre more into acting like acting like blacks and rap which is sad cause we natives have a DAMN beautiful culture that they don't appreciate

@Allhoney33
@Allhoney33 9 жыл бұрын
I agree you guys have a beautiful culture and each tribe should appreciate their specific culture but and I know I'm gonna get tackled for this but what's acting black? And if there is a thing as acting black, how long has everyone been "appropriately" acting white? I mean because standards that whites set are always right correct? Speak their proper English, adhere to their beauty standards, go through their educational system, adhere to their kinship system and all that which I have been doing for years. Just curious that's all. I see lots of blacks "acting" Native.....trying to dance at powwows, claiming to be some lost tribe, claiming Native blood when in fact it’s mostly white blood, wearing chokers, straightening their hair and wearing two braids and Native beadwork and rockin mocs. Why not embrace their African tribal heritage and wear African tribal beadwork like the Zulu woman in my profile? I often wonder why Tupac Shakur’s mother named him after an Inca chief instead of an African chief like Shaka Zulu? Of course they get called out too but when they act and adhere to white culture, nobody says anything. Just food for thought. Not trying to argue and hopefully I didn’t offend you.

i dont think its so much acting black.. i think its more imitating what you see on tv, or whats popular. right now, black people are pretty popular. 50 years ago, the white people were in style lol, who knows whats next. asians?
@Allhoney33
@Allhoney33 9 жыл бұрын
david paul I would have to agree. It's really all about what we see on TV. Not sure how old you are, but I'm old enough to remember how Native popularity soared after Dances With Wolves. All of a sudden Janet Jackson was sportin a bone choker in her That's The Way Love Goes Video. I have a poster with TLC dressed in Native style clothing. There was some black gangsta rapper calling himself Apache. All of sudden blacks were coming out of the wood works with their great grandma was Cherokee, then there were the ones who wanted to be different so you'd get the occasional, great grandma was Seminole or Mohawk. I saw tons of black people on my college campus wearing bone chokers, feathers in their hair, beaded headbands. A local rapper here in Atlanta gave hail to Native Americans in one of his rap songs called Don't Ride the White Horse. There's a line where he states give the mother*****ing land back to the Indian. Janice Johnson from A Taste of Honey was all of a sudden part Menominee. Mario Van Peeples came out with his movie Posse which had a few Natives in it. I mean I could go on but you get my drift. Being Native was in and everybody wanted a piece of it.
