As far as field testing for alcohol goes, I’d fail miserably! I have Menears disease #1. It’s a narrowing of the inner ear canal. I’ve had so many inner ear infections, I loose my balance if I turn to quickly. #2, I’ve had back surgery they did wrong. I can’t stand on either of my feet one at a time. My only hope would be the breathalyzer. I don’t/can’t drink because of medicine interactions.

I saw a video quite a while ago about a mobile police unit in some major US city. It was a big bus/RV styled unit that drove around specific areas. The arresting officers just brought suspected DUI's and other offenders inside the unit where other staff did the breathalyzers, blood tests, fingerprinting and all of that, and could write tickets and court summons on the spot and then let them go. It was a much more efficient system. Like a travelling booking process. There is no point in driving offenders to jail in individual squads, going through all of those processes requiring a bunch of staff and resources and taking hours of one officers time, just to let them go immediately anyway. I think in the future more of these mobile units will be seen in larger cities. Unless they change the law and require offenders, especially DUI's, to stay in jail for at least 2 days (which I think would do a whole lot to deter DUI's). But if they're going to be out in a couple of hours, why waste time taking them there in the first place? Just keep them longer or have mobile units that do it all out in the community.
