I know people expect a lot from me as I am a daughter of Ustad Vilayat Khan but still I am happy with being a daughter of him. I played Sitar till the age of 12 and then I took a decision that I would better be a singer than a Sitar player.
I had a parallel relation with my father as a Guru and as a father. I took so much time to perform in public because in my culture women are not allowed to perform openly but firstly my husband encouraged me to perform in public.

Utd Vilayat Khan is aftab e sitar. Aftab e Mausiqi is Utd Faiyaz Khan.

@@aritram10 i used the title deliberately. I think Ustad Vilayat Khan was a great artiste in addition to being a virtuoso Sitarist. So to only say he was a great sitarist does not do justice to his musical genius. Having said that, I too have grown up listening to my father, uncles speak in awe of the legendary aftab e mausiki Ustad Faiyaz Khan but unfortunately did not get the privilege of listening to him. He was the aftab e mausiki of his time. No doubt or dispute on that. The sky is full of stars. The one which is near dazzles and we call it the sun. As it recedes in the distance or we move away from it, the dazzle becomes a twinkle. No disrespect meant to the original aftab e mausiki, the legendary Ustad Faiyaz Khan saheb🙏🏽

I am a greate fan of PDT Bilyaet Khan since my younger days. I love to watch her daughter's with utmost admiration. May god bless her. But she should have some introspection for required corrections.
