I've had a couple of ghillie blankets and the tragopan has trumped them both, very good for the old shape, shine and shadow. Considering it's size I was pleasantly surprised at how light it was and it's fairly compact too. I'm planning to using mine for dipper, cuckoo and perigrines this year if I get the time. Cracking buzzard shots Richard, it's the one bird of prey that continues to elude me. Enjoyed that, now I'm off to photograph pine martins. Stay safe.

Great video - I have the same GHILLIE blanket, works well over ones head and also works a treat draped over a ground hide.

Really good, I forgot to mention about draping it over a hide but works really well in quite a few situations. So far helped me out loads, all the best R 👍

Cheers Scott, it's really hard to squash it down but can be compressed quite a bit to allow for a less bulky carry! All in all a great addition to the growing amount of Camo and Concealment. Cheer R

Hi Martyn, it really is a nice to have bit of camo and quite lightweight. It must have been 20ft from my head, lol.... best airborne view I've had which shows it works., that particular Buzzard never lets me near it! lol.. I'd say I was 25-30ft away from my setup, I kind of look and get a feel what's too close and look for surrounding cover to blend in a bit more. All the best R 👍

Well explained Richard! Gillie suits give me a bit more freedom then some of the other solutions. A hide is not always practical...

No doubt about it Richard, some form of concealment is essential for raptors such as buzzards. The only problem with mine is, like the one you have here, the open mesh design means inevitable snags on tripod catches etc. Worth having though. 👍🏻

Hi Steve, totally right there mate, I get an increasing amount of people that are anti-camo and say you don't need it and its useless. All subjects are different and of course animals and birds aren't totally stupid and sometimes the out in the open approach works! But for many of my subjects and having taken pictures of for over 35 years, for me essential. Not sure my pink jacket and trousers would work to be honest, lol... Bit snaggy, but totally worth having. Thanks again mate. Cheers R 👍

Nice one Richard. I assume you share your blanket with your tea/coffee. ( strands dipping into your cup) Helping to disguise any human odours. Talking of which, can they be machine washed on a low temperature?

Oh yes, well and truly!! Lol... I think they can but to be honest I've got a bag of old leaves, heather and bark to mask some of the fabric smells and I don't really wash it at all. Nice and ripe, lol.. Cheers R

Hi there, I love the bag hide but sometimes you've got quite a restricted view and it can be quite limiting! Still you've not got the snagging hazard as you have with the Ghillie Blanket. 👍

Nice shot of the buzzard Rich. Weather conditions aside I’m guessing the blanket is a better option than the Hokki if you want to change location or not be horizontal? Do you prefer a blanket over a suit?

Hi Rich, thanks very much for watching. It's great to have the option with the blanket over the hide and allows a bit more flexibility when out searching for wildlife to photograph. Fixed and known locations are great for hides as long as you get in there early, lol.. Do like the suit, but with the blanket its great to cover the hide if you need additional camo and different colours in different environments. Cheers R
