Ploughing with two Ferguson TEF 20's

My brother and my father ploughing with two Ferguson TEF 20's and Ferguson twin semi digger ploughs in preparation for planting Jersey Royal potatoes several years ago. They used to plough about 30 acres a year with these tractors and ploughs, until four or five years ago . The tractors and ploughs are still in use today but potatoes are grown only for the local market and alot of the farm is now in grass for making haylage, so the acreage ploughed each year has reduced a fair amount.

Nice to see these old girls working! The first tractor I ever drove! I grew up with 3 of these but sadly they were destroyed in a fire, it was the saddest day of my life.

it looks like deep ploughing ...I just bought one of these ,, and restored it ,,, I am giving it to my 12 year old son for Christmas day present ,,, he doesent know yet ,, I will post a video though ,,, thanks for your,e video ,,,,,

@crumyards Wow, I bet you could tell a few stories of your experiences over the years, how things have changed. My wife and me started farming on our own in 1988 allcows, we bought a 2nd hand petrol Fergy and my brother gave me a plough like this but shorter, it used to bung up when ploughing in grass, I used to get through some petrol too. Things got much easier when I bought the 4wd Zetor and Lemkin 3 furrow plough in 1999. Trouble is we had to give up shortly after because our landlord died.

These look like the "Scotch" plows which Louis Bromfield wrote about in Malabar Farm in 1947. He promoted their use because instead of turning soil so organic matter is buried, it is mixed almost vertically. He lamented that they were not marketed in the States at the time.

Was this just for the video?For i dont think many people would of been ploughing with t20's even back in 91.

No this wasn’t just for the video, that’s how all the ploughing was done on the family farm and still today my brother ploughs with a TE 20. Sadly my Father passed away several years ago so two fergys ploughing in the same field is a thing of the past☹️

@@Wildrover434 aww sorry to hear your father's no longer with you.the t20's are a nice sight to see.But it doesnt bring back memorys for me for i wasnt born to 1990.But where i live they all try and be progressive and move with the times even they cannt afford it.Far play to you for keeping it humble am humble myself i dont believe in all the modern day stuff either.I have a david brown 995 myself.
