Wilesco D32 vs Märklin 16051

Both are fantastic! The Wilesco has more features, electric heating and is bigger in size and weight (7.5kg) What i also like on the Wilesco is the smoking chimny and the big oil/water collecter in a tray in the base. It also has a rev. counter and water pump with basin in the base. The Maerklin on the other hand is more solid looks more classy, the materials used feel and probably are of higher quality, it is a compound which is unique, it takes a longer time to steam it up. (due to its mass and my rather small ceramic gas burner) I would have a hard time to choose a favourite, as i said before both are great to run and to watch. By the way Wilesco will bring you a limited run of 500piece of the D32 beginning of 2018!

Danke für den Vergleich! Die D32 ist beeindruckend groß, und gut ausgestattet, die Märklin ist schöner und edler.

2-cylinder ... hats off ! Both are really nice Steam engines ! This D32 armatures are looking greater than the new edition. The Märklin sure is rare and another class. But we should be glad to have a manufacturer of these models today anymore. The flight force rules at the D32 looks different to newer ones, never saw this version. I own a D24 from ´84 and it runs like at the first day. Greetings from south Germany

Nice comparison and I must say, the Märklin is the nicer one for me andit seems better build quality also.

Okay I do have the D32, but I think a prefer the Märklin.

The D32 looks more like An expensive steam toy and the Märklin has more of a museum quality to it, but I like em both. The limited edition D32 has a better waterpump and generator, but I do miss the old D32's safety valve on the new one. On the other hand I love the new Wilesco's color scheme. Just my two cents.

Ik agree Eric. There is one cool feature of the D32 which the Marklin lacks, the fact that its exhaust goes trough the chimney.

@@buijs1967 With the Marklin the firebox exhausts through the smoke stack like a real steam engine while the Wilesco uses the chimney as a condensator. So both engines use their chimneys, but in different ways.

@@ericipericie Yes that is correct, the advantage of the Wilesco way is that you can actually see smoke (steam) coming from the chimney and you have a built in collector for the waste oil/condensate

You're right. I think the new one does look a bit better (i like the new control panel) but the quatility of wilesco really decreased in the last years.
