Great sculpture! FYI, the medium viscosity CA glue you used there works better if you put it on one side, more just lengthens the drying time. And for wood a low viscosity CA glue would dry quicker & bond better since it penetrates the fibers, best for a flat surface. Medium/high viscosity is better for uneven surfaces to fill tiny gaps.
@wilkinsonwoodcarving2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tip!
@briangautreaux30722 ай бұрын
I was thinking wood glue would work better even though it has a longer drying time. I'm no expert on glue, just saying. But what he said about too much is definitely true especially with super glue. Locktite makes a 2 part glue that's like bondo or JB weld, the 2nd being an activator.
@gklkjuhylpoiuyuiojhjklkjuh99762 ай бұрын
@@briangautreaux3072 there is no better glue for the wood than PVA under a good pressure. It is water-based, non-toxic glue and penetrates fibers very good.

I saw a tip from another carving video, mixing a little sawdust with your glue makes it easier to hide seams in the wood
@danielh123452 ай бұрын
I believe thats why he sanded straight away while its still a bit wet. I'd assume it would glue better this way. The glue still is just attaching wood fibres to wood fibres without the sawdust interfering with the bond. The sawdust then goes into the tiny cracks after and onto the superficial glue. Then again, im not a professional, just my thought process.
@josiahamaze2 ай бұрын
Youre correct this method works the same. @@danielh12345

With CA glue less is more. Just use glue on one side.
@tomjohnson57132 ай бұрын
@@raymondnybakk1311 totally agree less is more and mixing in dust will make the joint much more noticeable so dont bother
@romangg24582 ай бұрын
This method works great to hide superficial cracks. Which, essentially is occurring when he uses the sand paper on the excess, non-dry, glue. I imagine that using the sawdust glue mixture for something this small (with very fine details) is more hassle and noticeable than letting it just occur itself 😁
