MJ the Student Actuary will do! I’m from the states and high school students can dual enroll in local universities and pick up some credits before graduating. I chose to enroll in a programming class for that same reason. Anyways, I am very grateful and fortunate to have your channel. It has guided and advised me numerous times.

Yes. AI might replace some of our tasks but actuarial science teaches you how to think so it prepares your brain for any potential future.

Why man why

Yes the first phase of AI will be used by actuaries as a tool, similar to how excel and R has been used. In time AI will be developed to extend from closed system to open systems where we start giving them more and more responsibilities until we become obsolete.

Hmm marketing is an interesting one. Art and communication are currently being developed and some of the results are impressive. Marketing though could cause some chaos, if the AI learns that controversial ideas are more likely to go viral then we might see some outrageous product concepts and advertising statements!

@@MJtheFellowActuary If AI can get to marketing it will take it to the next level but in the short term I think it is impossible, one of the most outstanding applications of AI is the communication ability of it to replace Call center department, art I think it is controversial area to speak about

Yes AI is progressing quickly in the medical fields and we soon might be diagnosed and treated from an app rather than a doctor. This would be huge for humanity as we don’t have enough doctors for our current global population.

Yes actuaries will be part of the team that eventually creates the AI that replaces us. But I also think AI will become more self reliant in time and won’t depend on humans to feed them data or double check their results.

Yes! Have a look at how AI can be used by a financial regulator to pick up fraud and systemic risks in the market. This would require the AI to have access to all the big market participants. It would fall under a category called Monitoring Software. Let me know what other ideas you are currently brainstorming

What task of a data scientist will an AI be unable to replace?

@@MJtheFellowActuary sorry, I didn't get the notification. As I was saying, the data scientist is one of those who is developing AI, alongside with software developers. Research, new ideas, and AI improvement is made up by their supervision. When AI will be able to do everything, as you say, will be able to do every kind of job, psychologist too, and at that time no human will be able to do anything. Before that time, every analytical job, so like actuary, data scientist, mathematician/statistician etc is gonna be safe, because they will use automation as a tool. Automation will always be welcome until machines aren't able to think my themselves. After that, actuaries and DS (and all other jobs) will disappear together. But when AI will be able to think by itself, we will probably be in trouble. I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say 😬

Yes the need for Data Scientists will increases, I agree with that statement. But I don’t see how that will protect them from being automated. If anything it makes them more vulnerable as the economic incentive to automate them increases if the first statement holds true.

I honestly think Data Scientists is perhaps the only profession which could not be automated. Its the profession driving the AI boom. I reckon you will always, always need natural intelligence alongside artificial one. Hence, Data Scientist will remain in demand as AI makes leaps and bounds ahead. Off course I could be wrong :P

But we see a rise in the number of Actuaries in the banking space as opposed to the traditional life and health insurance. Is there a grey area where those two kinda match up and does the one depend on the other one?

shouldnt you be able to continue writing those exams at your own capacity?(I heard somewhere that you can become an actuary without a degree, as long as you are passing the board exams)
