So, it's theory time. People are so quick to say that Mike obviously doesn't feel the same way about Will and that there haven't been hints about it. But these are the same people who said there were no hints about Will being gay. Some people thought he was in love with El? Hello? Anyway, I think there are some hints about Mike possibly feeling the same way about Will and not knowing how to deal with that. The character Mike has a song playlist filled with songs that he either likes or relates to. One of the songs in his playlist is about being a closeted boy. Theoretically, this song would make more sense being in Will's playlist. But it's in Mike's. Second, throughout S1-3, there is the constant saying of, "Love makes you crazy". Flo says it to Nancy about Jonathan. Mike tries saying it to El in S3 but he avoids using the word love. And in S2, Mike says to Will, "If we're gonna go crazy, let's go crazy together" and holds his hand. Third, Mike acts really weird around Will when he first sees him in S4. Why is that? You could argue the time they spent apart. But it's also implied he doesn't spend much time with Lucas either and that their relationship was a bit strained once he joined the basketball team. And yet, he gives him and everyone else a normal hug this season. Yet with Will, he does this awkward shoulder pat. When we last saw Mike and Will, their relationship was fine. Will seemed jealous of all the letters El recieved from Mike, so it would make sense if he was acting weird when he first saw Mike. And yet Mike is the one who seemingly seems bothered. The only new information Mike has at this point that he didn't have at the end of S3 is that El told him she thinks Will likes someone. And Finn confirmed that Mike is pretty much oblivious to Will's feelings for him. So Mike isn't acting weird because he knows Will has a crush on him. So why does Will potentially having a crush on someone bother him so much? Mike didn't have any problem with Dustin getting a girlfriend. Or Lucas and Max. But with Will, he seems oddly upset. And for spending a whole day with El, he didn't notice her acting weird, but he pretty much immediately knew something was bothering Will. Despite them pretty much not interacting all day. Bonus pieces of evidence: Mike has a sign pointing towards his closet. And for some reason, in every single season, there's an instance of Mike randomly deciding to stare at Will's lips. It has happened multiple times at this point. Maybe S5 will absolutely destroy this theory and show that Mike is completely uninterested. Maybe nothing happens between him and Will. I just personally think some of the choices made in these past few seasons for Mike's character are odd if they're not intentionally hinting at something.

For people who are quick to defend Mileven everytime someone talks about Byler, i don't know but i feel the romance created between these two is very toxic . And i haven't felt that for any couple in ST. Even after season 4 something feels off, Mike doesn't feel sure about his relationship with El and is pretty much forced by the circumstances to say things which is enough to save the day like the whole confessing his love to eleven when they were losing to Vecna that too was hinted by Will. It's like Mike doesn't know who he likes or whether he even likes Eleven and everytime he tries to take a break to figure out the plot takes turn for the worst and he is labelled as "Eleven's strength" so he has to be beside her. I don't know what S5 does with these character's story but i don't see Mileven as the endgame, honestly personally i feel if this was an ordinary storyline with no alternate dimensions involved this pair wouldn't have made this far.

2:47 I think a lot of people fell in love with this scene because it's like having season 1 & 2 Mike and Will back. Mike apologizes to Will, and continues on to say that maybe he spent too much time focusing on El. Its a sweet scene. But to me, this scene is manipulating as HELL. First, Mike acts like he's really struggling with Will not being in Hawkins. As if he didn't just join a new D&D club with Dustin after he told Will that "we're not kids anymore" and "we're not going to spend the rest of our lives playing D&D". Doesn't sound like you miss him too much bud. And Will even says it, Mike only called him once or twice. He also ignored him ON HIS BIRTHDAY so he could hang out with El. Mike then goes on to say all this nice stuff about Will, telling him that he can't compare to other members of the party and how Mike feels like he "lost him". You can see how happy this makes Will, like he is finally being noticed by someone who has neglected him for so long. Then, AS SOON as Mike has got Will to have sympathy for him, he goes right onto talking about El. He says "I think we should work together, I think it'll be easier if we're a team". It sounds to me like Mike is just trying to get Will to help him find El. He's not trying to apologize, not trying to mend their relationship, all he cares about is finding El. He just needed to get Will on his side so he would cooperate. This is just my opinion on this scene, feel free to give your feedback.
