Meet Bill. He is a long time friend of mine from the same small town in Texas. After years of businesses and relationships he has decided to explore some other options in his life as he approaches his mid 50's . He does not a a pension and would relying on savings and selling off things back in the states to survive here.
We will talk about his experiences of his first time on the Philippines. People. transportation, food and his overall opinion of the place.
We are a Fil Am couple sharing our lives between living in Texas USA and Panay Island Philippines. We share dealing with two different cultures, building our solid concrete cast in place home beach side and exploring/ seeking new things. We hope you enjoy and join to be a apart of a bigger family here on this channel.
Thank you for being apart of our channel and lives.

It's good to have a friend that can give you real and honest advice about living in the Philippines 🇵🇭. It's not for everyone, but the fact that you're able to live inexpensively and visit beautiful beaches are big considerations.

Some advice for bill from a long time expat who lived in both places for 15 years, I had a house in subic but kept all my property here in california. #1 Take your time , dont lock in on the first hottie even though you might feel wow shes the one.there are thousands of them , Spend lots of time even living with them for a long time to really know them thouroughly and if shes really in love with you , dont buy a place , "rent only" until youve chosen a life partner. That way when you decide to change girls you can just move out to your next rental and start over. BEWARE its not easy to break up with a filipina they dont let go so a rental is best . If You buy or build in her name you will lose your investment. SO DO NOT DO IT! until you are absolutley sure. Me personally i went through 5 girlfriends before i found that perfect one, we are very happy and have 2 littles ones and i wanted them to grow up here in the states so we all came here. Good luck

This was a really nice interview, James. It's obvious Bill had a wonderful vacation and experience exploring the Philippines. Bill said he really likes to karaoke in Texas 30+ yrs, there's something about him that reminds me of Conway Twitty and I bet he can sing some great classic country. Show us what you can do, Bill. I have a sister in law in San Francisco who has been there for 20+ years. She comes back to batangas yearly. She always flies PAL. Non-stop. When my family immigrated here 2 months ago, I used JAPAN Airlines, it was the cheapest at the time. I use generic apps to find the lowest priced flights and then go to the airline directly for pricing. Bill will love his time there. Making incredible memories.

@Albert the Dog Einstein apps like cheapo air or kayak or priceline. Those are generic to me. I find the lowest fare, then see which airline is tied to that fare. I then go to that airline and get the same flight. Usually less than on the low-cost websights.

@Albert the Dog Einstein for cheapo air, and all the others mark up the ticket price from what the carrier sells them for. The generic ticket supplier does this so they make a profit. But the major airlines sell unused seats at a mark down, lower than what the generics do. They also have reduced prices the further in advance you buy them. I buy tickets months in advance most of the time. If you go back to James' videos, he actually explains how to find the lowest priced tickets. He did it about 8 to 10 months ago.

Great video James! Bill I think you've made a wise decision on going to the Philippines and checking it out, the people make it the place to be. I'm also from the North Texas area and I will be flying into Iloilo City sometime this year and staying full-time especially since those vaccinations have been lifted. My girlfriend of over 5 years lives in Oton so I will be giving James a ring just as soon as I get there. I love Texas but there's also those beautiful beaches and waterfalls of the Philippines that will keep me there, NO MORE WINTERS!

I totally got sucked into this chat! James mentions being able to rent scooters from him! How epic would it be to Meet the Mayor Mr.Hightower and tour the island... go out for a fishing trip and then do a catch cook and eat with healthy fresh caught food. Man your talking dreams! My heads in the cloud. Glad I can watch you so it takes my mind of the hard times here. With the truck being gone and held up at the shop for over 1 month as we struggle to get water/food and medication. We called the shop and no answer. I'm telling the wife just one more week hun we can make it. My friend John drops off gas and needed supply to get us by. He's even taken my wife to her medical appointments. He's ex military. Guy is Funny, intelligent and a good soul and reminds me of you. Your a great speaker and very in depth. Much respect sir. Can't wait for you two to pop on some 50cc's and go for a ride. I'm loving the boats too! All the video's are well edited and your humor with the crew is great! You always hear about the philippines but you take us there. Hi James; You look like the Island life is treating you pretty well. I just had to tell you that my wife rolls her eyes and complains when I talk to strangers too. Not so much at you any more. Lol. Your voice and face is pretty common around here at least a few times a week. If you get to talk to Bill, tell him that it was great to hear his story. From the sounds of it he is sucked into the island life as well. Still not sure if we’re heading over there yet this winter. I want to go, but the wife doesn’t. Go figure. She’s afraid that here job won’t be around when she gets back. And she may be right. Well you guys all take care and please says hi to Love Love for us. I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. Been married to my wife for 40+ years. Take your time, am retired Navy. Like you mentioned in your VLOG it's a different culture. With regards to the language each area has a different dialect, there are over 2,000 in the Philippines, with Tagalog as the national language. Many people do speak some English. A lot of expats are in Cebu or near Subic or Angeles City, or Baguio. The higher the altitude in the mountains, you wouldn't need an AC, maybe in the winter months some long johns. LOL 😆 Enjoy take your time.

Been here 7 months now and can’t believe I get cold at 79 degrees, but it’s true. About splitting time between US and Philippines. It just broke my heart seeing how sad my asawa was every time we left the Philippines. So when the housing market hit its peak I said lets sell it all and make the move permanently. So we did. Forgot to add that my nephews here have gotten me a stumblin once or twice on Red Horse and Tanduay. I tell the wife just making memories. Some of the best stories start with dude I was so wasted… 😝

Over all the Philippines other than the dialects is much the same. I’m not speaking about mountains, beaches, cities, provinces ect. I’m talking the Philippines life style. I’ve been to at least 10 different Islands and there’s more similarities than differences. So I recommend at first go look at all those places you have heard about and get it out of your system. Then you will realize depending on who (partner) you end up with will have a big influence on where you settle. I enjoyed Luzon, Bohol, Negros, Panay, Cebu, Catanduanes, Mindoro and the cities each of them has. They really all have special places to see and visit. I would love to visit Mindanao but I don’t think the risks outweigh the benefits. Please don’t try to make a point here. My wife’s uncle retired as a Colonel in the Philippine Army and spent most of his career in Mindanao and was shot 3 times. He retired and spent his last days in his hometown in Batangas where he built his retirement home on 9 hectares. Unfortunately before construction was completed he died. For me I wouldn’t love to have a house in San Antonio, Zambales. We even own a plot of land there that would be perfect for a peaceful hideaway. My wife likes it too but it to far from Los Banos and her family. She will accept living in Tagaytay but that’s about as far away as she will go peacefully. lol 😂

Good session between you two... Lots of reasons to contemplate a move to The PH and it seems Bill has made his decision... 👍 Good for him!! Once someone does decide, there are some preparations to get things in place (skipping these isn't a great way to start IMO)... 🤓 It seems he's been thinking things through... Best of luck to him, at some point this year hopefully I can share a brew or two with you both and get some ideas to add to my plans, face to face... 😊 I hail from Minnesota as a kid, have been overseas since 17 outside of 2 tours in the states while in the Army, and have spent time in Texas (school and TDY), had the biggest steak ever while there, and enjoyed the times... 🤔 In The Philippines, I've been in and out over the past 20 years, loved it and know it's a great place to move business operations to... 👍 Most of my time has been in Germany, another beautiful country and living there has been super... 🍻 But I am entering my final 40 years or so of life at 66, so I need to make a move before I get old... 😂 Bottom line... Sure there'll be plenty to talk about when I get there, and maybe I can add to the conversation beer or no beer! 😄 Take care, guys... 🙏🙏🙏 👍😎👍
