It was like that with Fred Armisen as well. Dana is my favorite SNL player but it was a bit frustrating because Will and Fred's era was one of the best. More time is needed for these conversations but as a longtime SNL fan, I'm glad we at least get this.

Love both of these guys. Geniuses. Love the podcast. It's so funny though that the guest basically has to apologize for interrupting in order to talk or respond. " I'm sorry!, I was just gonna say.." It's no joke how little they think abt just asking some basic questions and... letting the guest actually speak one or 2 full sentences. It's becoming mind boggling. The Shane ep was reeeaaaallly hard to listen to.

@@jjgreen5206 yeah they should play to their strenghts, they are not Conan nor will they ever be. They need to structure the interviews a lot better, it seems they go in with a few mental notes and thats it. Also Dana’s impressions make the show enjoyable, but for some reason he doesn’t want to use them. David is great with his cutting wit and snarky putdowns, he should get back to that. So I have an inquiry. I had just listened to this entire episode in podcast form and was kinda confused why he was on the show now. So on the podcast pages version of the episode it states that this was recorded prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike currently happening. Which would place this recording before May of this year. I suppose the only (Hollywood) reason to have him on in August would be to promote Strays, an upcoming film he’s in, but they never mention it once and also they talk briefly about MacGruber the Peacock series as if it’s recent? The language used about the show makes it sound like it happened more recently than late 2021. I don’t know, they definitely don’t need a reason other than they’d like to talk to Will Forte and he’s an SNL alum but usually the show has an ulterior motive for the guest to be on, even if it doesn’t get pushed very hard always, some kind of project gets mentioned. Anyways great episode!
