Thank you Phil I'm off 2 years now with no windows. But I believe I will recover at some point. My symptoms are severe, but I've also come off 4 major drugs, Xanax, Valium, Gabap. Oxyc. Now Cymb. I'm 68 years old. My main thing is to have time with my hubby and travel. I believe time is the cure. I have done some amazing things during my healing. Things that no one can imagine, but I know one day I will be completely back.

Dear Phil! Thank you for this video. I used tramadol in a rather low dose - 50 mg every other night . But I used it for 10 years straight. I wound up having serotonine syndrome. It nearly killed me! My relapse risk is zero, because it spooked me so bad. But my will to live is at an all time low. All I want is somebody to tell me how long this will last! You are the only one who actually gives me an estimate - 2 to 2,5 years. I quit cold turkey and have been clean for the past 14 months. I feel like I am half way there, and you just gave me that confirmation. Thanks again!

Genetic here too and my whole family always told me “it’ll always be this way” almost solidifying my problem, shutting me into the prison, sealing it into my brain that I’m forever broken. Not that they meant to they just didn’t know.

Hi Phil. I'm from Santa Barbara and moved to Thailand 7 years ago and have been on tramadol for 7 to 8 years I guess; I left everybody and everything behind. I'm now coming off Tramadol, or trying to rather. I greatly appreciate your videos and am so very thankful that I have found you on youtube. I have a loving wife, daughter and one on the way, but I do not have anyone I can relate to on a personal level in this country, a 'back home' level. Your videos are giving me a sense of connection, albeit through a one-way stream, that I desperately need. Man, having to accept this life that I've created for myself......... I had so much potential ya know. The addiction fucked me up.

Wow I relate so very much to this. It was uplifting to hear your words and thoughts on this. I worry when I'm off I'll just end up back to how I was...but I hope that's not true. This video helped ease my mind a lot. Thank you for this. I hope to be happy too :)

How do I work on the things I need to if I’m 16 months off Benzos and ssris and I’m totally debilitated and can’t sleep think or function. How the hell do I do the work? I’ve lost the person I ever was. Live in constant fear. Lost my job. I’m a father and husband and everything I am is gone.

Neuroplasticity is real, its not even a new thing. On the other hand its pretty new thing that new neurons are born for our whole life, no matter how long you live. I guess it was found to be true in 90s and with birds it was found at 60s but no one believed that guy when he was alive. Neurotransmitters play a huge role /thats were all the CNS medication focus, they are or turn to NTs). Our bodies start to stay in homeostasis, so if you get dopamine (ex. Tramadol leads to dopamine increase) you body says "ok, we wont produce it anymore that much since it comes outside for free"... thats one thing and it takes time to get these different NTs back in production by your own brain. Other things are also related to NTs but might be harder to understand for people who dont know neuroscience too well. Tolerance is of course a thing but there are several ways to get tolerance. I like to think that anxious/depressed peoples brain are not working in areas where they are in healthy people and thats probably the reason why Electroconvulsive therapy even today is still easily the most effective treatment for depression. It makes your brain flower, blossom, just like there are no leafs in a tree in winter but in spring everything starts to blossom and thats most likely what depressed peoples brain need. A shock to the system although TMS is a milder version of it. Brain activity is only electricity and NTs between synapses and this shock to the system makes your dead tree to flourish again. Opioids withdrawal dont just make your brain a dead tree but takes you to hell as you well know. But slowly you start to see more of those windows/light or whtever one likes to call them. Giving up hope is the worst thing and suicide is near so these are extremely tough situations. Like you said there should be at last a tiny bit of hope even you see just darkness all around you, you are blind to see anything so there has to be this faith to get to the other end of the tunnel. Best of luck to all whos mind are in a very dark place and searching that first glimpse of light to give hope to continue.
