RESTORED

2 жыл бұрын

Join in with the RESTORED crew as they attempt to revive this 1962 American AMC Rambler 400. After discovering this car amongst many others at the Hutson Farm, the guys get her back to the shop and begin to discover what it's going to take to get this ol' girl on the road again. Finding a highly neglected engine compartment, completely overtaken by rodents, they dig through the debris only to find a highly seized engine. This may be one of the hardest revival videos they've taken part in! Will the guys be able to get this forgotten beauty running again or has she breathed her last breath?

I know the guys from Restored won't see this, but I did vote for the 67 Galaxy for the next restore. I have one that I bought from my Grand Father. He charged me $77.52 because that's what the taxes cost for the next old truck he bought. He told me he'd give me the car, but it wouldn't teach me anything if I got it for free. I drove that 67 Galaxy home on bias ply tires, nearly wrecking it cuz I didn't know that bias ply tires would follow every crack in the road lol. I still have the car today. She's a factory Blue with a White top, Factory Air that somehow still works. 390 with a 4 barrel conversion. I snatched a 4 barrel intake off a school bus ;) Bought a Holley 4 barrel and put a refurb kit in it. I love this old car! She's a cruiser!

Yes indeed, I agree tremendously. Child and parent working together is always a great thing. I'd give anything to get to do something like this with my son. Getting back to ' 'basics' is what I see the pandemic headed. If not there's gonna be great deal of people in a 'world of trouble'. Thanks and stay blessed.

Tenacity would be the word of the day. Way to go and way to persevere. There's an ever greater lesson here I believe. We need to remember that there are people, much like the old Rambler, that appear to have a chance of ever being RESTORED. But, if we spend some time, work hard with them, give them some firm, but gentle nudging and show them the love of Jesus we will be amazed at what God can do. Thanks so much for your hard work on this one. I had pretty much given up on the old Rambler, but you guys kept on going!! Success!! I sure am glad that there have been people in my life that have never given up on me, no matter how lost and froze up i seemed to be. God Bless! Guys I just found your channel, and this specific video brought back a lot of memories for me. In 1990 I was 15 years old, and bought my very first car, a 1961 amc rambler deluxe 4 door. All original, and in pretty bad shape under the hood and the interior, but the body was straight. My dad and I restored the interior as best we could, and tried to find someone who could work on the engine, old flat head 6 cylinder, 195 3.2 I believe it was. Finally found someone who knew how to work on it, but due to the lack of finding parts, couldn’t repair all of it. But we got it running enough for me to drive it to school everyday for a year…it had a hole in the manifold, and it sounded like a herd of tanks coming down the road. I bought it myself for $100, and sold it for $800, just to buy a 1963 Chevy 2 Nova. That was already restored for the most part, and lucked out finding it for only $500 in 1992. Bought it from a guy who had no use for it anymore because he couldn’t drive it. I loved that car, but sadly had to sell it for emergency reasons. I’ve always wanted to find another 63 Chevy 2 nova, if you know of anything anywhere, seriously, please let me know. Love that you guys restore old cars like this together, my dad and I did that before he passed.

My brother and I once had a 1964 or 5 American with a locked up flathead. We bought a roll-over accident '61-63 American with the overhead valve engine. The motor mounts were different, so we pulled the flathead and tranny out of the newer American and cut the mounting crossmember out of the OHV body still attached to the engine. We lowered the whole engine/trans/crossmember assembly into the newer body and welded the crossmember to the body. Fit like a glove. Drove that car for quite some time.

Ramblers are a great way to get into the hobby for cheap. I like this particular model, almost a bit of a euro vibe to the styling. The front grille is very cool. The interior is absolutely frightening. I appreciate a video of all the work and details. Very cool! Hope it gets fully gone through and back on the road. I also noticed it appeared to have factory AC, which is amazing.

I drove a 1959 Rambler in high school. It was a pink and white station wagon. Later I bought a 62 white wagon that I drove for a few years.I also bought a non running model just like the one you gat running. I paid $2 for it as a parts car but I should have tried to get it running. That was read with a black top and the paint was in very good condition. I thought it was pretty old at the time but thinking back it was only 12 years old. 1974. They all blew smoke like crazy but I literally fixed the overdrive on my wagon with a paper clip. Good times.

Hello from the Czech Republic. I always thoroughly enjoy these long produced videos. Absolutely well done on getting this one running, I didn't think you'd do it, not this time.

Got something for Mortske Repair to work on with all his stuck engines. As he usually uses heat, wood and a hammer and they're still stuck. Wonder if you measured the piston and cylinder wall tolerances but it appeared to have compression at least. Awesome you got it to run. Deserves a proper rebuild but it would be interesting to see how long it would last, toss a hour meter and drive it around town! 😁👍

Well guys , that was not only outstanding , but that was above and beyond . Not only the MAJOR detailing under the hood , but the extreme mini rebuild got ‘er done ! Well if that doesn’t prove that the early AMC or predecessor to the in line six cylinders that made a name for American motors , then nothing would . You guys rock ! You got your faith and the good lord delivered . We appreciate your hard work . Thanks and we know you’ll always have your faith as your heart and will is always in the right place . That’s why you’ll always prevail . 👍 well , time to head on over to sister christian’s channel . See you over there !

Holy molly, this ain't no will it run. More like a resurrection from the car graveyard. Ya'll fellers got some sure enough gumption to get her running with what was basically a partial engine rebuild. Nothing but respect for the incredible amount of knowledge, skill, patience and professionalism displayed by two incredible mechanics showing us how it's done. God bless you and yours and we love the content!

Wow that old Rambler sure does bring back memories. My mother had that exact car and color but with an automatic. I enlisted in the AF when I was 18. She bought it right after I enlisted in the AF. I came home on leave when I was 19 and took my old girl friend out on several dates in that car. BTW, there was an option on this car where the front seat would fold all the way back almost into a bed. My mother's car did not have that option but as it turns out the mechanism is there just the handle to activate it was missing. Turns out a screwdriver will make it work... ;-)

But a problem I eventually had with my 59, was that the front seat eventually would lean back too far, making for an uncomfortable driving position...the seatback mechanism would just slowly fail.
