Brought back some memories of my old 49 Dodge back in the day with the Corinthian leather delete and a mechanic telling me the only warranty I got was " if it breaks you own both halves"

My Dad had a 49 Dodge back in the day also. That was back when families used to do things together. That Dodge took us to a lot of places.

In Feb '64 (age 16) I rescued a 39MDL from a local junkyard. Previous owner had removed the running boards, painted the wheels copper and installed "Port a Walls" on the tires. Mine had a vacuum assist shift. I seem to recall either a soft or worn out fuel pump lobe on the cam so an electric fuel pump was installed. Rear tail light lenses were fashioned from a toy - Mattel's vacu-form with a jar cap as the mold. Good luck. Narragansett Bay.

The yard view, an A typical Alaskan yard. Brings back memories. The old Chevy is in pretty good shape for its age and being up there all those years.

Nice job but be careful, the car will be very top heavy now that all that ballast sand has been removed from the transmission. Thanks looking forward to the next video.

Hey guys .hook a bootle of fuel above the carb....hook the beast to a truck and tow....and pop that clutch...your not getting enough engine spin to start...once she starts rolling the rings should reseat, and the head gasket break back in... Tim

diesel may rejuvenate the leather seals. The transmission does have a fourth gear, Alaskan Overdrive. Good effort.

I owned a 36 pickup and their version of a one ton flatbed truck.. got my attention to those u joints, a clutch that had some different type of springs to hold stuff in position for the fingers on the clutch working. First year for juice brakes. Lots of first things happening. That 216 engine used shims on the rods for poured babbitt bearings... I learned the hard way about making sure to keep shims with the caps taken from. Mine did come around but several mistakes made by me, a fourteen year old kid then.. that was nineteen sixty three. So my introduction was to a rig only about thirty years of age then. I had to suffer with those wooden door pillars on the A pillar and B pillar... yours at least had steel pillars at this/that time. At this point of the rigs life, does it really matter. This engine will run but for a smooth running.... my knowledge of this is maybe it will but life for it is going to be a short one

😎Cool car. I've used a bottle jack and a few small pieces of 2x4. A few underneath the Jack cross ways, so not to push floor down and then a longer one to push up and maybe one across shaped to fit the roof to push it in the right direction! 😅 It works! Have fun! 👍

That rig is ready for Power Tour, if you tow it on a trailer. Its only about 5000 miles from Fairbanks to Tennessee. Derek from Vice Grip Garage can probably help ya from there.

I can’t imagine that Alaskans paid ANY mind to Prohibition. Am I wrong? Was there illegal alcohol enforcement there just like the rest of the US? I’m sure my Dad’s father didn’t stop during during that time, in Minnesota. I’m 1 gen. older than you guys, and impressed with your abilities.
