Good job on that day cab buried under the Amazon jungle. I recall driving by Gillespie's in the late 50s through the 70's .. all early era trucks back then .. a time capsule of memories. Start that piston-popper in the weeds next time. Keep 'em coming!

Looks like a 6v92T Silver Series(didn’t see any green), this General should be 1981-newer. It’s definitely wounded, but impressive that it lit right up.

Looked like those handlebars on the big cutter was a bit to short and awkward. And that gear lever should be placed higher so you don’t have to bend over so many times. Looked uncomfortable
@SpawnofChaos
@SpawnofChaos 2 жыл бұрын
Was thinking the same thing about the gear shift lever. My grandparents owned a 90s-model DR brush cutter; the gear selector is right there on the main panel between the handlebars, and the bars are pretty high up. Theirs even has a lockable differential 😁

Those generals had a cable operated clutch so the cable was probably seized. Surprising how easy those Detroits start after sitting so long.

I don't own a diesel and Probably never will but I'm always super impressed on how these old diesels fire up and a gasoline engine would never start up if it sat just as long

@George Jones how about one left in the weeds like that Truck. In my experience gas goes bad, carbs don't like to sit and gas engines poston rings freeze to walls. Seems like these diesel engines come back to life so much easier

I like these will it start videos. My favorite was when you got those old locomotive switch engines to fire up. I have two old Buicks I play with, and I ask "Will it start?" every time I turn the key! So far they always do. And yes, I do have a "Will It Start" key chain. It just seems appropriate.

I got itchy just watching it lol i've been in his shoes before, everytime you move some weeds the bugs jump off an the mosquitos are all over that brush, so everytime you move something they swarm you. lol on a good note I was shocked it started that easy. Bruce , you should get a piece of aluminum and weld a handle on it , start taking the intake off before starting these old Detroits just in case they decide to run away. At least then, you could shove that aluminum over the intake and starve it for air ! They're cool to see shoot to the moon but boy that could turn into a "will it stop" video real fast ! Air shut off plate and fire extinguisher. Oh , get that old Ford back in business for the will it starts , that thing is pretty cool !
@andrewking4885

That's true what you've written but I've heard a few times if using the emergency stop or putting something over the inlet to stop it the blower has to be resealed as the pressure affects the seals .
@dansmith73
@dansmith73 Жыл бұрын
@@andrewking4885 I haven't heard that . I experienced a runaway CAT one time and we got a piece of wood shoved over the turbo inlet and got it shut down, not so sure with a Detroit but id rather do seals than dodge wrist pins and create a boat anchor!

It was worth the effort if you ask me. To see an engine sitting under tons of brush and weeds be able to start like that is a testament to how engines were built back in the day by actual human hands!

He would probably get more subscribers if there wasn't so much editing being done. Viewers want to see the whole thing from the moment he opened the hood. Like i have seen many vids and 90% of the trucks either had rotten cables seized starters fuel fungus or clogged air breathers. I don't believe that truck started with less then 5 revaluations after sitting 25 + years and we will never actually know because of the editing.
@HyperActive7
@HyperActive7 Жыл бұрын
@@lawrenceflynn8245 Doesn't matter anyway, not watching him anymore because I don't agree with scammers and the fact he could have sold off every single thing he scrapped and when he decided to scrap Blue Collar, which I watched him pull out of a field, completely rebuild and use to turn around and trash scrap it for money was enough for me. I don't believe in what Bruce is doing now is right because he's looking like one of the scammers himself and I don't believe in that shit especially when I thought he had put all that shit behind him.
