So it would be very surprising to me if it had been significantly cleaner when he left. you also have to remember that in this situation his daughter is not his subordinate. She is his roommate and it was actually her apartment first. He kept bring up the fact that she hadn't paid the rent the last month but he was either expecting her to move out or he was expecting to move out leaving her holding the bag for the lease ( and it was already mentioned that they were both on the lease.
