ALISON MANN, a 22-year-old graduate student in New York, started losing her hair as young as four years old due to alopecia. By the time she reached school age, she had gone completely bald. With the support of her loving family and friends, Alison learned to accept her uniqueness. She also found her passion and confidence in gymnastics, which Alison said gave her a sense of identity and protection. Having lost her hair at such a young age, Alison never wore a wig. She also said she would never consider putting one on. She told Truly: "If I had the choice to grow my hair back, I genuinely don't think I would." Alison admits that using dating apps has been a struggle for her, with some people asking insensitive questions or fetishising her hair loss. Today, Alison is going on her very first date in over a year - will she meet the man that accepts her for who she is?

Shes got classicly beautiful features .Its so amazing how much significance hair has socially, how it can define a persons appearance and thereby how people judge you. you dont notice what a huge deal it is til u start losing it. Ive had alopecia on and off all my life and went through a stage of wearing wigs i found it really alarming how people couldnt handle me wearing different wigs, it triggered such strong reactions.

She's beautiful, and her confidence makes her even moreso. Society trains us to think that we have to look or be a certain way, and I love that she was able to overcome sociatal standards and just be herself. Josh is a good looking young man too! Not just the fact that he is physically attractive, but his smile reaches his eyes, and that speaks volumes.

I’m bald by choice. I’m an exotic dancer and when I mean to tell you some men are brutal with their open opinions on my scalp 👩🏽‍🦲😂 one customer I went up to didn’t even let me introduce myself he just said “you shouldn’t have cut your hair” shook his head and made a disgusted face…I smiled and said everyone else thinks I’m beautiful but have a blessed night and ended up making a lot of money right after I walked away 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️ there’s someone for everyone , mine is by choice so I can’t imagine others opinions on something I can’t control but she is gorgeous I know she won’t have an issue finding her forever person 💕💕💕 Edit: and for the creeps who sexualize my scalp , I charge them to touch it at work🤣 I know she doesn’t do that but it helps benefit off the creeps. I have been walked up to by a drunk man at a bar one night and he tried touching my head without consent and my guy friend almost threw him to the ground 😅

She could literally wear a wig, wear fake stick on eyebrows, and fake eyelashes to hide her alopecia, but she doesn’t because she accepts herself for who she is and I admire her so much for that. Hair is so important to women for some reason we associate it femininity, but looking at her without it just shows that’s not true at all.

I had a friend who had alopecia. She mentioned how sad it was for her in the beginning of it all but I think she slowly grew to love herself again. Rasna if you are out there somewhere you were always beautiful and I hope you always see that.

Alison is cute as hell. Beautiful girl, and no shame. Love your personality. I went through chemo and radiation in 2019, lost my hair and it was jarring to me. I got my hair back, all silver and curly but since yours is a permanent condition, I give you so much respect. P.s...I really hope this works out. He seems like a genuine guy❤🤗

I have been shaving my head for over 25 years. It's not a big deal and I don't know why people think it's so abnormal for a woman to do? And, I have never had a problem meeting men and having wonderful relationships. There are so many other things in the world with which to be concerned! A bald-headed woman should not be one of those concerns.

She's so outgoing and has a great personality. I'm curious if she has ever tried wigs. Maybe I'm a total clueless moron for saying this, but if I lost my hair, for whatever reason, I always thought one of the positives of such an experience would be to play around with wigs - different hair colors and styles. I have heard from people who have worn wigs in the past however, that they're not exactly super comfortable. Anyway. She really does seem like a great person. I love how comfortable she is in her skin. I'm sure that confidence is something she honed over the entire course of her life, but honestly with how confident she is now and the fact that she is actually a very attractive woman, she hands down makes ME feel just a tad intimidated.

My friend used to have a hair picking disorder and she was partially bald for a period. She always wore a wig to work and was so excited to go home and take it off. I wear wigs for fun and I can say they definitely get uncomfortable after a few hours. They're terrible for hot weather too but they are fun to change things up!

She is so pretty. Her head shape and face are gorgeous. She looks great the way she is. I have very fine hair, then hairloss because of strong medication and then develope trich on top. I ended up having to trim my hair off and wear wigs. Sadly my face isnt as gorgeous as hers.

When I was in school woman could wear their hair short or bald. Example: Grace Jones, Annie Lennox or Sinead O’Connor. I even have a great aunt that is still alive to this day and has a buzz cut. So to my generation this doesn’t surprise me. They are both good looking people!!

I developed alopecia areata in my late 20s, although I had signs earlier. It seems to run in my family since two of my aunts, a sister, and a female cousin all had it. My Aunt, like her, goes out completely bald, I personally choose to wear a wig. Only 30% of the hair on my head is gone and I also lost some leg hair. I'm not ashamed of it though and will tell people I have alopecia and wear a wig. I just think I look better with hair and shaving is more work than you'd think.
