We wanted to see if the dogs would alert me to something being wrong. I was really shocked at the results. Do not try this yourself. It was just an experiment we did under supervision. Please make sure you have working smoke detectors in your home. It could save your life and your loved ones.

My dog woke me up. Room filled with smoke, fire climbing up wall - from unattended candle. She saved my life.

They knew something was odd. They also took your response as it's not a big deal. My little jack russell, whose training consists of sit and go outside, went wild when my frozen pizza started burning when I was on a client call and forgot about it. We shared a rib eye for dinner that night.

I had a silky terrior that woke me and my then husband up just in time before we were knocked out with carbon monoxide poisoning. My frail little Hippy Joe saved our lives that night his life and our 2 other little dogs.

@neucounty I live in Oklahoma city and back in I think it was 2004 we had really bad ice storms so Transformers were exploding, taking out electricity all over the state so we went to a motel, about 4 am the transformer blew that provided electric to the motel, my ex in desperation to keep us from freezing wasn't thinking right and fired up a grill out side our motel room door then brought it in to our room. I knew it was t a good idea because my eyes and nose were burning but we snuggled up with 2 of our 3 small dogs (Hippie and Scooter) our 3rd dog (Monster) was in his kennel on the floor with heavy blankets over him, we fell asleep fast but woke up pretty quick to Hippie running back and forth from one side of the bed to the other barking and howling. I sat up in bed and instantly felt dizzy, the next thing I knew was my head hitting the floor and hearing Rob say "wake up baby breath, breath omg!" And that's the whole story, Hippie saved all our lives on the most miserable day of our lives. I miss the little guy so much and will never forget him. My littlest hero!

My Borzoi Tarzan woke me up after I secured the fireplace and went to bed.The fire hearth rug was on fire, it didnt catch because it was fire retardant but had burn through to the wood floor. A spark must have jumped out through the screen.

Yeah but you have to consider that the fog machine smells odd but they figure it's not something that's gonna hurt you. If it was smoke from a fire I bet they would act like they're suppose to & alert. 😊

Yes, and further you were awake and nearby. They cannot be expected to understand headphones make it so you cannot hear what is going on, nor would they understand their hearing is much better. They also wouldn't realize that your sense of smell is nowhere near as good as theirs. They do, however, understand sleep. In their minds, I imagine, you were right there and fully aware, and not reacting so it must be ok. I have little doubt that if there were a real fire, especially if you were asleep, they would save you.

they noticed that the fog is not real smoke, belgians have a very good sence of smeĺling.... and they know its not danger mode. they are super smart..

Let me tell you they are the most intelligent s dogs. You knowthey were ALERT but THEY knew is not danger MY BOY WHISKEY HE WAS SMELLING ALL THE TIME EVEN HE WHEN IN TO THE STOVE AND HE NEVER READ YOUR HEARTBEATS. OKAY THEY ARE ANGELS

There’s a difference between fog smoke then actual fire smoke that’s for sure and it smells different

I think the smell is what will make them alert ..if you noticed he walked over to the oven to see if a smell was comin from it

I have two dogs, one would sleep through it, I think the other would come to me, but I would have to be vigilant. The one dog will show me things. Actually I think all the dogs did what they thought they should do, came to you! Even Bailey!❤👍

My dog fell asleep in front of the TV with a LIT CIGAR. Good thing I smelled smoke. Darn dog!

Yes, in real smoke they would alert. They would be that uncomfortable also. This was a great experiment, and yes there were many signs that you would have checked out. Thank you!!🦮

Yes sometimes it's the owner that needs to be able to 'read' the dog. When they did try and stop you from cleaning the wall you told them 'no'. They obeyed and didn't bother you again. I noticed from the time you id no,no,no their whole demeanor changed. JMHO

Great watch. They noticed and tried but eventually gave up since their human was also unphased. I think my dog would do the same. Coz you can see how unsure they are, but they also don't realise any immediate danger so it doesn't make them go off the way they would if they could probably see and smell an actual fire or immediate threats. So they give it a go 😂 and once the human ignores they kinda just say aight we'll hang around you then

Actually watching again, they did a pretty good job of alerting you when they made phisical contact with you, between you and the wall. Trying to get your attention

All three of your dogs knew that the smoke was not normal with all of them standing in the hall way looking directly at you cleaning & then looking at the smoke as if to say, " hey momma come see , " they knew .

Smoke from a fire is very different from a fog machine. My Dane/Shepard won't come downstairs if there's even the slightest bit of smoke from the stove lol

Is Whiskey mixed with German shepherd or something else? Because Because pure-blooded Belguim Malinois dogs are normally thin like your dog Freedom

6:29 Not always. It depends what the dog routine is. Especially one dog I trained in KNPV was pure bred. But despite of being pure he was build like a brick sh*t house. Partially due to my own making. He had enormous drive and energy. He was very active every day about 5 hours a day. I would never rely on my dogs for fire. Yes, they probably will give clues but they will be easy to mis. They would be very mild as they regard 'strange things' as not alarming as they are trained to be super confident.

I have two GSD’s both male one is 4 The other one is a baby puppy, but I guess I’d probably need to check mine out too when we have plenty of smoke detectors running on a central system, so if one goes off at alerts our entire house and we have a separate central system running to the barn but I guess I like you just assumed that Thor would go crazy trying to let us now and maybe sometimes all of the training that is taught to keep them well mannered and behaved also keeps them from barking and jumping, etc. who knows but they are so beautiful and precious. I love the videos and we learned some tips and tricks on training our new puppy and continuing to work with Thor. Thank you. 😊❤

Très impressionnant - En effet les deux malinois ont très bien réagi et ont "senti" et vu que le FOG était artificiel .Le fait de s'allonger au sol en silence signale un danger potentiel . Le Fog est un effet utilisé dans le cinéma et dans les spectacles des groupes rock. ( Armand -Paris)

It is possible they would react more urgently if the smoke was from actual burning material - but that's an experiment one would not want to do!

Now that they know smoke is bad and you must exit the house, I suspect they would be persistent next time. I think it was interesting that Freedom went to check on you while Whiskey tried to find source. Good teaming-intentional or different instincts? When Freedom was interrupting you and licking your face, I wonder if she would’ve persisted if you had removed your headphones and looked at her inquisitively.

If it were real smoke, they DEFINITELY would have reacted. To them, a fogger is just water.

One of my dogs told me when a pan handle started on fire. My daughter's bf left the food he was cooking unattended, and he didn't check the pan on the stove next to it. My dog came and got me from upstairs and kept barking until I followed her. Maybe your dogs weren't too concerned because you didn't have real smoke?

Yes, if it were a "real fire or leaking gas" it would smell differently but this was odd to them and they did try to get your attention - subtlety but under true emergency they would bark and jump on you if need be! Idea: My late husband and I had a Large, Golden Retriever Female and she loved everybody and I asked my husband if he thought she would start barking and growl if someone was trying to break in? He said: " Oh, Yes"! Sure enough, someone came to our front door and was trying to break in and she was upstairs with sleeping with us and the second she heard - we didn't - we turned on our light, her hair stood straight up, and she charged down the hall and stairs to front door then let out a "Howl: the likes of which we'd never heard - "Hounds of the Baskerville comes to mind" Scary howl, and stood her ground at the door when we got down there no one was anywhere near our house!!! Scared the S___ out of that Person! I found out what she was capable of and she weighed about 90 to 95 lbs and she would have eaten him alive to protect us and I think tge man who was in front of the door knew it! When dogs bond and love their people they will give their lives for us - I miss her so much! Try: "Stranger, Danger at the Door"? Ronnye ❤😊❤

You said you used a fogger. The fogger might have a different scent to it than a file with real smoke so the dogs might not be able to tell you that so it might smell different to them. Try a real fire 😢
