Nottingham City Council yesterday announced a deal with Nottingham Forest was all but agreed to sell the City Ground freehold to the club and allow them to redevelop the world famous stadium. However, later in the day, Forest issued a statement of their own saying no deal was not yet done and 'relevant permissions' were needed before a sale could be confirmed.
We discuss the developments and whether the deal will collapse or if this is a small bump in the road before a successful conclusion.
Meanwhile, it has been announced the women's team are going full time and playing 11 games at the City Ground next season. We'll also touch on that excellent news. #NFFC

makes sense that the club can't commit to buying the freehold unless Rushcliffe can agree to development plans. Otherwise it is wasted money if they own the land and can't develop it.

@@IainBaker but I think EM wants a warm feeling about future applications as just rebuilding the PT stand isn't going to meet all the needs.

These discussions were are very complex, with three separate councils involved, Forest have to make sure all discussions are finalised and agreed, if only in principle, otherwise they are at risk of spending funds and not getting what they require. There should only be statements when agreements are fully signed up. Sounds like the councillors have tried make a political gain a little prematurely.

Perhaps it will if the local council only wants a commitment from forest to stay but restrict any growth. It does stink of jobs worths in the council being knobs. Can you blame marrinakis for wanting to be free of them?

Fair points here - won't please some, but look who NFFC are having to deal with at the Council. This will run and run, I fear......and as you say, can we blame the Owners from wanting to go where they are actually welcome. Ironic that many cite Toton as being difficult for them to get to - for me and my 2 friends who I go with, Toton is 30 minutes quicker to reach....not all Forest fans live within 20 minute walk of the WFCG !

@rjw4762 I am a long standing fan (since 1976) and I want us to stay at the city ground for the history, but I also see highbury and goodison park and the changes there. If the council who by default are run by ignorant jobs worth don't see the importance of forest to the town the I can see why a move is better

@@waynewayne2472 With the council desperate for hard cash, it should be a case of "What do want, Forest ?". I guess every game brings in tens of thousands of £ into the city's businesses. Forest in the PL is a huge asset.

If the issue is planning permission as the club say, the issue isn't worth the city council. The different councils are completely separate entities that don't work together. It's unfair to blame the city council for county or rushcliffe's actions.

I worry for the future of the club when the Premier League bubble bursts and it eats itself. This to me has an air of inevitability. More important than having a super sized stadium is that we've still got a club for my grand children's grandchildren.

Personally I think Toton would be an absolute disaster for the fan base due to the poor transport links as opposed to the locality of the city Ground itself. The only truly viable area would probably be by the BBC at the Island Site behind the BBC itself was there should be enough room there for a good sized ground that would more than likely suit our ambitions!

Paull Morley fits the profile of Forest Focus contributors to a T. Jimmy is far and away the most impressive cricketer in recent times. Botham not fit to clean Jimmy's boots, if only because he is alleged to be a friend of Piers Morgan!!! Wilfred Rhodes also opened the batting for England, something the Burnley Lara never quite achieved!!

The PP for the new PT stand has not yet been issued, thereby not 'granted' although its been approved by Planning Cttee. The Legal agreement needs to be sorted which may involve the boat clubs?

Great chat as always... I don't want Forest to move from TWFCG but, I'm surprised that Radcliffe Power Station is not being mentioned as a possible alternative. It's a massive site with room for a 40 - 50k capacity stadium with parking and retail and possibly a training/accademy complex as well.

The club’s statement about their aspirations - in the context of the constraints of the site worries me. If they put in an unrealistic planning application we could be in deadlock in 3 years time.
