this movie hits home personally , I suffered a concussion a week ago. no one tells you how it effects you , sometimes more mentally than physically . I started to feel depressed , thinking a way I would never in my life think . I started to get irritated easily and didn't care if I was dead or alive. all the doctors said it was normal , and then shrug me off and sent me Home. I would go home crying , wondering what the hell was wrong with me. I talked to my doctor today and he patiently listened to me vent , and tell him how nobody wants to help me understand why I feel crazy . my doctor told me that swelling and damage to the part of the brain that controls your thinking and personality can cause those symptoms. but they are no cure and treatment for it except rest and hopefully my brain heals. he also told me sometimes it doesn't , but I should just not stress about it and I'll be fine. there should be more awareness on concussions and hopefully people don't go home blindsided.

I honestly thought that this was a known thing and everyone just said fuck it it's oart b of the game. I didn't know people denied it or didn't know repeatedly smashing into eachother could cause permanent damage. I mean I'm no doctor or scientist but that seems like common sense.

Because his findings would bring medical proof to back it up which was probably found by someone else before but paid them off to keep it quiet cause NFL is getting paid trillions of dollars from the sport.

@tj duval tj the big thing to remember here is that until the late 2000's the only knowledge of lasting brain injuries was that CT scans were coming up inconclusive. Dr. Omalu discovered and diagnosed CTE and now we have physical proof that these constant brain injuries have lasting effects. I would agree 100% that it is common sense that "repeatedly smashing into eachother could cause permanent damage." we just had no physical proof. So to many players and families who love football, who depend on football as a way of life, and even the people who stand to gain from football all knew the dangers of any contact sport. Medically however, due to the lack of knowledge and science we couldnt accurately link the concussions to the brain damage.

just watched this movie last night on starz and I was a good movie and it also made me look at football in a different way ..and to think the NFL tried to deny it like they did kinda pissed me off ..and I am a steelers fan and the steelers was a big part of this story where steelers players from back in the day like iron mike killed them self's because of this head trauma hard to believe ..and will smith played this part very very well

For those saying it's common knowledge that repeatedly smashing into each other can cause a damage, If you actually watch the doctors interview, you'd see that he said something about the knowledge was only acquired when the patient was dead, and at first he was very disappointed when he opened the head of a patient and saw that his brains were perfect. The thing is, what makes this particular discovery very important is that, you go through CT scans and what they show you is that you are fine, and you don't even realize that few years after retiring from the sport, you'd start to behave in a strange way, addiction, depression, etc.. Thus blaming other activities in your life for it, or family members, or relationships, or kids without knowing the real problem is you! So yeah, smashing your head repeatedly can cause a damage, but a long term damage like that caused by CTE is a revelation to medical science, as regards to sports.

I was in a car accident a couple of weeks ago and I end up going through a wall and landed in somebody's backyard. With no airbags being deployed everyone just keep asking how did I make it out with the few injuries that I did have but they don't realize the internal injuries. I don't have any medical insurance nor did my car insurance cover any medical, all I can think about is dying so the pain will stop and why God didn't just let me die in first place. I don't wanna think like this, but the pain gets so bad it's hard for me to sleep. Lately all I think about is the quickest and most painless way to get eternal sleep...

Another great performance from Will Smith on a very important topic. Thank you Dr. Bennet Omalu for your work and dedication. The NFL (and all other contact sport leagues like NHL, boxing, UFC) need to protect their athletes and stop the constant public relations lies. Parents who enroll their kids to these sports must see this movie. Once enough people demand protection of the athletes, the sports will change... for the better. People who promote or support violence in sports are sick and should seek therapy.

SAHLISS yeah I would've loved to see him return, but I'm kinda glad he turned it down. But apparently they said his character died in some sort of alien technology pilot test. And there's actually 4 returning cast members in the trailer. Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, the guy who plays Jeff's dad and Vivica A. Fox.
@MisterFoxx
@MisterFoxx 8 жыл бұрын
***** Your name is Uncle Tom's Cabinet, so I wont even take you seriously. But I'll say this, if you look at comments about Independence Day 2, you will see people say, "who asked for this?" or "nobody really wanted this, but I'll check it out" or, "did we really need a sequel?" Now people could say the same for Bad Boys 3, but there are plenty of people who actually have asked for that more than Independence Day 2, even while it was developing, people asked why is this being made. But now that people know there's a Bad Boys 3 in the making, people are actually looking forward to it, more than Independence Day 2. He's not an asshole if he decides not to go for a sequel nobody really asked for, when he's actually about to do another Bad Boys. And there's a quote from the director of Independence Day 2, "In the very beginning, I wanted to work with him and he was excited to be in it but then after a while he was tired of sequels, and he did another science fiction film, which was his father-son story, so he opted out." It had nothing to do with money, but you go ahead and believe rumors, just like you believe he's a scientologist, when scientologists, including the former head of Scientology has already said he's never been a scientologist. And Will has always shown love to his fans, so you can't say he doesn't care.

I love Wills the fresh Prince to death but I strongly feel David Oyelowo (Selma) would have done this movie justice. Not taking shots at Will Smith but I feel he(Will) was miscast here. I can understand why the movie didnt make it to Oscars best actor. Just a concerned movie fan.

I cant agree with you more. No doubt will smith is indeed world class.. David would have naturally brought on the so called "Nigerian accent " with ease and dexterity.. He is a phenomenom!. My opinion really has nothing to do with his Nigerian ancestry. He looks a lot closer to Bennet omalu, compared to Will and would even look more like him when the usual make up and prosthetics is included. Overall the message of the movie was passed ,and this might have downplayed some of the negatives as those stated earlier. Great movie!!!
