Wow, these VOA journalists don’t even do a simple fact check now days. Ethiopia is already using the port of Berbera and they own 19% shares. The issue here is on the MOU it says Ethiopia will lease 20 km of land in the coast of Lughaya not far from Berbera port and built their own commercial/military port in return for some 15% of Ethiopia Airlines and after evaluating Somalialand maybe maybe a recognition. To be honest, Somalis and Ethiopians having been working hard to leave the past conflicts and be brothers and neighbors and do business together. There are more legit ways for Ethiopia to be able to access the sea for commercial purposes in Somalia, but not through Somaliland is a non-starter. Now, it will even make it impossible for even Somali to agree on anything. Abiy lacks experience, and I don't think he reads history books. Someone has to tell him it is not going to happen what he is trying to do. To access a sea requires peace where your shipment will pass. Abiy is about to start war in the Horn. If he thought Eritrea about 4 million people, that war was too hot to handle, he thinks he can force Somalia 18 million people something that they do not approve. Somali people fight civil wars but when they hear Ethiopia is coming they are all together. And believe me they are fighters, where almost every family has their guns. Besides there are big Somali region in Ethiopia that will in come into play. Somaliland is just on tribe, not a nation, which lost half of their region already to other tribes who oppose them.

Ethiopia uses different ports but they want a military base. So far Djibouti and Eritrea said no to military base. Using the port commercially and having a military base, is two different things. The guy at 15:20 is lying. Ogaden region became part of Ethiopia in 1887 after Emperor Menelik won a war with the local clan based inhabitants. It was annexed by Italy to the Italian Somalia during its 5 years invasion of Ethiopia. After Italy lost WW2 and left Somalia it was returned back to Ethiopia by the British in 1948.
