A lot has been happening in the games industry, many of which is a bit worrisome. Of course, people proclaiming the death of gaming has become a trend on KZfaq recently, but here's a more nuanced take on what could potentially happen to the games industry over the next few years.

The Steam Deck has changed how I game. I am almost exclusively a Steam user now (except for the few games I play that don't come out on PC) and I prefer to play games on my Steam Deck compared to my dedicated PC.

the whole argument about Hardware Power ignores the question of "does this make the game more fun or playable?". Games nowadays are mostly limited by the resources of the developer and much less by hardware power, wich we see in the form of a lot of games not actually being technologically more impressive than they were on PS4 or Xbox One. So in my observation the whole argument of hardware power for cloud gaming is mute.

also the example given of a game map being as large as a country: Does that actually make the game better? A lot of todays open world games have huge maps that are rather a slog to get through instead of enhancing the experience. Many good open world maps are rather dense and compact.

At the beginning of the video, and GOOD, the crash talks are silly to me. Maybe AAA, but not the whole industry. Go indies!!!!
