Did over 1500 miles in one week between GA, NC, FL and back in my TJ with the top down most of the time. 4.0L Jeeps with 5 Speed Trans are awesome and mine has 154000 on it.

I daily drove a 2001 jeep wrangler (4L, 5s/d) for 3 years, and then had it for a 2nd car about 6 years until I moved to Philly myself and couldn't take it with me (still have it, it's parked at my parents house) I drove that jeep 80k miles in that jeep, and I can say that when it was stock it ran amazing on the highway, no issues at speed. I left unstopable no matter where I went. The only thing I had happen was my steering stabilizer went, and I had wicked back death wobble (basically the whole front end of the jeep started to shake vilantly - the stabilizer is a shock absorber on the front end in between the two axles). Gas milage wasn't great, but I had no issues and no worries driving from Central MA all over NH, VT and RI and all around (regularly 150 / 300 miles round trip "day" trips lol)

I just did a 14 hour round trip with my sons to see their Pop-Pop and many other family members out of state. Love my '05 TJ Rocky Mtn 4.0L, just past 170K miles, can take it wheelin' one weekend and this long trip the next. The key is meticulous maintenance and keeping it stock or in my case as close to stock as possible. 2" OME coil lift, 32 KO2's, Fox 2.0 Shox and Fox steering stabilizer, Napa HD gearbox and M.O.R.E gearbox bracket has this ole TJ running and handling the best its ever ran! Excellent on and off-road manners and capability. Highly recommend Valvoline 150K+ mile synthetic blend oil and shell gas, idles like a showroom 4.0L I6, avoid lousy wawa gas. Never any need to go beyond 32's, plenty capable and you get to maintain that great 4.0 low end torque. Your TJ looks like it can do it all too!

Just revived one of these that sat for 8 years all I did was throw a battery in and it fired right up old gas and oil cant kill these things.

I have a 1997 with 230k miles. So yours should last a while. I have a 6 inch lift with 33x12.5 tires. Have never had a problem on the highway does 75 mph pretty comfortable

I'm going to be honest. In 82 I purchased a 77 CJ 7. Put a ton of miles between college and home, but was never comfortable and relaxed. Now I have an 03 and its a complete different ride because of the spring coils rather than leaf springs.

i wheel my '97 all across the country... no trailer. Last year I went on a 7,500 mile overland / rock crawling trip. If you take care of it, it'll last. Mine is on 37's and will cruise 75 all day long.

Sometimes you gotta find out how an old ride handles a long road trip. Cool ride. I haven’t ride a bike in a while, but built an 07 Strretbob about ten years ago with a 107” S&S kit. It was fast. And they’re even faster now. No death wobble with that many miles. Not bad.

I just keep my Jeep around town, due to 10mpg.

I got 99 wrangler it doesn’t even have 100 k lol you can’t kill the straight 6.
