Number one issue with Uber for me is, ticking the unaccompanied minor box, it does not give a cancel fee. It does not prevent them from using the account and wasting another drivers time. Same with no car seat. Number 2 issue is cancelation rate percent, and acceptance rate percent even being logged. If were independant, we can cancel for any reason whatsoever, even using it as a stratagy. Bonuses should not be based on acceptance. It should be based on star rating. 3rd issue is that we should be able to defend our rating. We have dash cams. We have records of txt and call communications. Uber keeps those records and proceeds to never look at them.

Dara is saying that we make $32/ hour, that’s been said, we can become employees if they pay us $32/hour, we drive company cars, Uber/lyft pay for gas, insurance, oil change etc, if we work more than 8 hours we get paid overtime, they pay vacation and holidays. If that happens I m in. 😊
@ricky4673

They could lower that to 22 an hour. If I dont need to use my car, my costs are way way low. No need for a car at all.

The key issue here is they’re trying to fit a gig worker into labor laws that were created in 1935 (89 years ago)! NELP, NLB, lawmakers and the gig companies need to come up a hybrid model that takes into consideration the basics of an independent worker and an employee. There has to be a model that protects the individual and that makes companies and their shareholders realize a return on their expenses / investments. The reason U and L aren’t worried about this announcement is b/c it is based on $7.25/hour! Imagine if the federal min wage was current with the cost of living (let’s say $23/hour), they would be dinging a very different time. The Fed min wage needs to be updated to current market conditions!

I see a lot of individuals who are not drivers fighting to make drivers UBER employees under the guise of “worker rights”. That, to me as a driver, is very aggravating. What is their motivation? I do not want to be under an employer’s thumb.

It’s not if, it’s when. The rule is final. Uber and Lyft need to prove drivers are not deprived of laws that can protect them, which I find very hard to prove.

A far better deal would be to negotiate for percentages or in app practices rather than this archaic device of 'minimum wage' - left party wants their cut for govt programs while a blanket wage will separate workers from profits

I really think here in Florida we are underpaid per trip! If uber provide all of the expenses including a car maybe they could make employees. I wouldn't work for them, i would branch off to another gig. Its ridiculous how its not adding up to be a fair decision if this takes place.

you can’t take on that many employees you make you do half-and-half that would be my opinion half employees and half contractors is the only way it could happen but you’re only gonna get paid when somebody’s in the seat going down the road you’re not gonna get paid to hang out in your car so forget about it

If actual inflation is 30 percent, we should have 50 dollars minimum wage. Inflation is not what they say it is. They change yhe rules in how it is calculated. They decide what types of goods and services should be included or ommitted.

As ride share employees, who will cover the cost to drive( car maintenance, fuel and depreciation)? I currently base my rides off the federal minimum wage plus $0.65/mile to cover cost. Funny thing is, I still make less than minimum wage and over 80% of my offers are below minimum wage, once I deduct the $$0.65/mile. As for the overtime thing, these companies will simply throttle drivers so that they never reach 40 hours, forcing them to switch apps for the rest of the week and the other app will do the same. So drivers will have say 32 hours on Uber and 32 hours on Lyft; 32hrs on GrubHub, 32hrs on DoorDash, ect. This will make companies never pay over time pay and be well within their rights to throttle drivers. Throw in this active time BS and drivers will only have 25 hours a week even if they work 7 days.

They already take 30% when you file your 1099. It would be nice to have my taxes already done with w-2 but the issue is I want to be a independent contractors because of the flexibility. The issue is these thieves won't let us set our prices nor reimburse us for gas nor maintenance while simultaneously taking %25+ in some cases they have been found to be taking %70 of our earning even tips there thieves.

3 out of 6 = HYBRID If they let me set a price I am worth and showed me all the information upfront ie What pax paid what I get paid and what UBER takes upfront is only fair/fare! TRUE UPFRONT TRANSPARENCY ! I believe upfront transparency for both pax and driver is needed for both sides to level the playing field. 100% no transparency has made made UBER BILLIONS!
