This is a good talking point. I think it’s similar to the NHL markets. There are a lot of American born players that don’t want to play for Canadian teams. I’ve heard stories that some players hate going through customs every-time they cross the border, so if the Blue Jays can land Vladdy, I think they have to go all in for it.

Here is my only thought on moving Vlad. Rogers will want to sell merch and some seats during a rebuild. Overpaying on 1 player with dollars and terms accomplishes that. If they go full tear down and rebuild I could see them having Vlad as the poster boy for selling their product. Now will he want to stay in Canada during years of being bad waiting for that next window? Idk. But rogers can’t have a team of nobody’s for 4-5 years. Nobody will come and nobody will buy merch. Gotta have someone.

Crazy how badly the blue jays assets are mismanaged right now, only thing you can give Atkins credit for is this starting pitching

@LockedOnBlueJays The credit should go to ownership for being willing to spend that kind of money on starting pitching. What choice did Atkins have? He can't draft and/or develop his own players.

Either Vlad or Bo or both have to go. Hopefully both for a bigger haul. The Vlad/Bo era didn't work. Horwitz/Babe will make us forget them quick.
