The origin of braids can be traced back 5000 years in African culture to 3500 BC-they were very popular among women. Braids are not just a style; this craft is a form of art. Braiding started in Africa with the Himba people of Namibia. These people have been braiding their hair for centuries long before Nordic, Greeks, or Romans. Egyptian sculptures have even been found with these hairstyles. So, don’t use braids as your “Aha Moment”….. His mistake was saying that he made the videos to “prove” a point, instead of trying to do unbiased research and simply gather information. I don’t care one way or the other if anyone wears braids, but learn the facts and stop operating through blatant McCarthyism’s

It’s not about wearing Chinese clothes. That’s not cultural appropriation. It’s only cultural appropriation if you do it in a stereotypical way. Like if you wear a Native American war bonnet with spiritual and cultural significance in a “sexy Indian” costume.

@@Entomology314 ...By your example then having intercourse with a Chinese National is appropriation too?
@Entomology314
@Entomology314 Жыл бұрын
@@mickybro2363 That is nothing like what I said. Actually having sex with someone of a certain nationality has nothing to do with the fetishization of their culture. An Indian war bonnet is a spiritual symbol and using it in a “sexy Indian” costume is extremely disrespectful. If you are using cultural symbols accurately and respectfully, it is not appropriation. Let’s give an example: Say a popular white film director chooses to make a movie about ancient china. They hire a team of experts, including Chinese people, to ensure their show is accurate to Chinese culture. This is not appropriation, because the show would not misrepresent Chinese culture. On the other hand, say that same film director hired an all white cast and no consultants. He just took a guess at what he thinks Chinese culture looks like and the setting becomes a caricature of Chinese culture. This is disrespectful to actual Chinese people. Look at Disney’s live action Mulan remake, which is a clear example of this in action.

@NatSoc Kaiser Hmmm. May I remind you that Germany fell after its leader had unified all its people that had been separated by external wars and internecine feuds. The fact about the beginning of the Roman failure was not so much the incursion of the Huns, but internal corruption. To pun Leni Riefenstahl, it was the failure "of the Will" of its people to overthrow the corruption. As for the incursions, the Democratic Party (aka communists by what they do) is following the same formula which led to the Roman destruction: shipping large numbers of these unassimilated alien people all around the country, of whom do not speak the native tongue (English/Latin), have no money, and show little interest in assimilating as well, not only bringing their diseases but also a foreign culture which had already FAILED their homogeneous group to begin with. You should read about the uprisings that occurred under the last Roman "kaiser." And I am not fooled by your tag, "NatSoc", as that is for national socialist. Or, by another name, NAZI. It's through a nation's will to survive, to direct funding for assimilation of new peoples that gives a nation its best chance at survival. It is a guarantee of failure, if all this neo-Marxist Woke crap being peddled by American academia that will make an entire generation of useful idiots, but guarantee a generation of disenfranchised, broken perpetual revolutionaries. All this Hegelian-Marxist Critical Theory gobbledigook is what creates agitated divisions by race, or sexual proclivity. The "dirty Marxist" formula of "class struggle" between the proletariat and bourgeoise FAILED. Miserably. Some pretty nasty tools were learned along the way: Mao's "re-education camps" and Cultural Revolutions, Stalin's Gulags, Iron Curtains among others kept people in check for a while. But in the end, even the survivors of the brainwashing say that none of it worked. And the same goes for the tactics of Paulo Frieré, Herbert Mercuse, and Jeroux and others who peddle this Critical theory crap. But, back to you....national socialism doesn't work: fails due to a lack of accountability. And Kaiser Bill was a miserable, arrogant idiot who singlehandedly wrecked Germany. Despite him, the German peoples, from Catholic Bavaria to the northern Lutherans are a smart, industrious and proud people, and can thrive, together, if left alone. Just ship the Muslims back to Turkey and start making babies again!

My husband bought me a couple of Punjabi outfits while he was in India. I used to wear them to church. One day I had just arrived home and there were several ladies that had just moved in down the street from me, that were from India, taking a walk. They saw me in the outfit and made a beeline for me and were so excited that I was wearing it. I had taken the scarf off while I was driving they grabbed it and wrapped it around me and complemented me. It was so fun seeing how happy they were to see me in it!!

On a related note, I had a white (woke) friend who was so reluctant (for fear of cultural appropriation) to wear an Indian suit I got him for an Indian party/event I invited him to that it could easily be taken in the wrong way, and cause offence… ironic that his hypersensitivity to being respectful made him come across just the opposite.

I straight up told her no, I didn't tell her I was native though because I wanted to see how it developed because I rarely get offended on behalf of my native lineage. The next day she came into class with mint Bob Ross pocky and gave it to everyone except me. When she walked up to me I reached out to get one and she pulled it away, looked me dead in my eyes and asked me what her name was. I've never had such a good laugh since then🤣. It was art class so I didn't have to be quiet about it and literally just laughed at her for the rest of the hour, she never talked to me again but it was worth it🤣🤣🤣.

Well said. I wish everyone thought the same today. I think people actually are naturally interested in different cultures. Some people do find that they actually like a different culture-a different way of life-better than what they’ve done. If they choose to change and live differently I don’t see why that’s an issue. For example, trying different hair styles, eating different food. Clothing I actually think we kind of do that already. If you go anywhere in the world you’ll find jeans, t-shirts, etc. and various styles of that. I personally love wrap style dresses, they look good on me-and I believe that’s actually a Japanese influenced style. Basically modern clothes ARE a mix of styles. And honestly I am personally tired of jeans and t-shirts. Clothing in the past whether western or eastern were much more beautiful in many ways. The intricate embroidery, long dresses or robes (for men), etc. Even just hats-which aren’t worn at all in the west at least. I wouldn’t mind if we all decided to upgrade our clothing to something nicer. The outfit he’s wearing for example is very nice. But I guess that’s a pipe dream. Modern clothing is all simplicity.

Yeah on the other hand friends should also understand and respect different cultures, like not offering a muslim pork for example. The way I see it is the one extreme wants to deem everything as too insensitive for another culture and the other extrem just wants to straight up call somebody a slur and expects them to take it as a compliment.

Start making some KZfaq shorts and videos to let us know about it my brother, there are so many Philippine Americans here in the U.S, just start a podcast even to let everyone know about your culture and all aspects of it and it will blow up and you will be the first person doing it, and then next thing you know you can quit your job because you'll be making so much money as a content creator because all your people will be behind you, interview people in all jobs, trades, businesses etc etc. Talk about the struggles and the positivity, and go with GOD my friend, do not delay this is your chance. @@Vini7034 Bro Americans are so sensitive. I was born in America but I was raised in an Indian style (so bascically extra homework). In fifth grade we were doing this math activity and we were assigned partners. My partner then starts crying because I was solving the BASIC MULTIPLICATION problems too fast (bro was mad about me solving 32 x 7 in less than 3 seconds). Then all the girls start being mad at me for making him cry. The problem with those girls was that they did not know how to read an analog clock.

People came in custome and stuff and there was this group of 3 russians and 4 chinese that came there every year in absolutely fire self tailored central european medieval clothes.
