Possibly the two best singers to ever enter the Idols competition, and they competed in the same year, and incredibly, finished first and second. They were streets ahead of the others that year!

What a trip down memory lane! Still love this, still makes me cry. Gareth Gates had such a sweet voice + Will = magical. I wish they’d made an album together. Each is so talented, but something extra beautiful happens when together. Those harmonies are breathtaking! Wow guys. Best version ever imo.

It is superb, but I think some credit must go to the faceless musicians, voice coaches and music director who make them sound so good, as well as to the genius arranger who came up with this arrangement. But most of all, as you say to the timeless, breathtaking talent of John Lennon & Sir Paul McCartney for writing such an incredible song, which stands the test of time. How did they do it?? Pure God-given talent, and application of that talent! ♥️

When I was in my early teens this is the song that eventually made me go and listen to every single Beatles song. Up until that point, the few Beatles songs I've encountered didn't really speak to me like this one did.

This song came out when I was 13. When I heard the song I stole my uncles Beatles CD. 17 years later I've seen Paul McCartney 30 times around the world, have a Beatles tattoo sleeve on my arm and am obsessed with The Beatles and Macca beyond belief. I owe this song so much.

I've loved this song since it first came out. I never thought anyone could meet or even better the Beatles version. This, however, by Will and Gareth is superb. I take my hat off to them both. Lovely!.

Wrong on so many levels. Gareth was 18 ;) when they recorded this and made the video. And Will was 23! Plus, no auto-tune required, they're both pretty good live singers. Will has proved himself over and over again over the years in his pop career (5 platinum selling studio albums speak for themselves), and Gareth, too, in musicals.

@vintagevic1 Songs are reinterpreted with different emotions all the time. I think the longing and melancholy expressed in this remake are exquisite. Apparently I'm not alone since this version, sung by these two lads, topped (# 1) the singles charts in England back in 2002.

Will young is still releasing studio albums and touring this October, he has just released a greatest hits album. A new studio album next year he writes his own songs too .
