Here is a lovely restored W&G machine demonstrated by Alex Askaroff from 1868. This model has the early glass tensioner.

I just got a Willcox and gibbs and it doesn't have a serial number anywhere. The needle plate says a date July 4, 71. Can you tell me the date of manufacture? Thanks a lot

I have a W&G machine #83558, which puts it around 1865. My wife bought it from someone in England. We are in California.

I have one that was given to me by a dear woman who was parting with many old items that no one in her family wanted. It's in beautiful condition and has it's own table with a box that goes over the top. It has the original box of parts in the drawer, box looks new as well. I would love to send you a photograph of this if you could tell me anything about it.

What was the serial number on this machine? I bought one from someone in England many years ago and it was in excellent condition for the age of it. I made and embroidered a wool Civil War era Garabaldi blouse with it. Awesome little machine. I amnow the bproud owner of two more W&G machines. I also have a W&G hat machine that needs a hook. It looks like it is a seven but very worn ... I also see an R. And something higher a 7 backwards

Making conclusions I see that the base of my machine is not the same as that of all machines. where you are supposed to tell me that the serial number comes, mine has a step, (as if it had been machined) ... and I want to observe a seven but very worn. That same seven is also I have it higher but the other way around
