I was 23 in 1968 and remember the original. Whether remembering or re-listening to original, Wm. Bell and Texas do a more moving, heartfelt version.

That's odd. I'm 23 and I'm just now hearing the original piece. I've heard this song sampled in more than a couple other songs specifically the guitar riff. Amazing song.

Always feel like I’m going to cry when I hear this, knowing it came out back in 1968 adds a touch to it.

Can anyone explain to me how William Bell looks so good in this - I mean it’s a sixties song! And he was no chicken then as far as I know. 🤷🏻♂️😳

Is it possible to improve on something that was so perfect and wonderful to begin with? How can William Bell be in such good voice and look so young forty years on from when he first had a hit with this song duetting alongside Judy Clay? This is totally marvellous.

My thoughts exactly! In fact, I have just posted similar. Could it be his son?

She's so good she could be black! The original is always better, can't be beaten. But this is really shockingly good.
