When William Bissell, Chairman of FabIndia, was a child, all his friends wanted to become pilots. But William wanted to own the airline. He didn’t come from a business family, but they told him he had an entrepreneurial mindset.
Although his father, John Bissell, started the textile export business in 1960 that would eventually become FabIndia, William took over the reins when his father fell ill.
William told Shradha Sharma, Founder, and CEO, YourStory, at Techsparks 2019, “I originally wanted to be an environmental journalist. But after my father fell ill, I chose to continue with his export business even though I wasn’t interested in it before.”

Fab india has been a great company. Kudos to William for carrying forward the legacy of his selfless parents working style. Would like to give an opportunity to ex employees with offer to subscribe to the equity shares at the same time , entitle them to be allotted full subscribtion when Fabindia comes with an IPO , irrespective of the price. Truly a company who thinks of the welfare of employees, ex employees, suppliers & artisans. Luv u , William . My wife has been an ex employee. Very very happy with the culture at Fabindia 🙏

I find this funny, do you know Fabindia sources straight from the artisans and has many community owned companies? Sabhyata does not really promote craft at it's core while Fabindia does. Anyway, to each their own.

It is looking to make use of our tradition and style, without given any respect to it. This is just my observation.
