To mark the thirtieth anniversary of his uncannily prescient Neuromancer, Gibson, dubbed “the god of speculative fiction,” takes his vision of cyberspace to a new level with this thriller about a brother and sister, drugs, and a game involving peripherals-quasi-human drone bodies-that would be deadly to lose

Love what William brings to the modern science fiction world.

I enjoyed the short chapters. The book was very dense with content and ideas, small chapters made it easier to digest and bookmark.

interesting how he relates fiction writing to lying. I wrote a paper freshman year in high school where i described a music festival that i wasn't allowed to go to, that all my friends went to. I hadn't heard the stories from friends yet of what it was like but made up what I thought it would have been like as if i'd actually attended. got an A+

Thanks so much for posting this! It's so great to find a video where Gibson is finally allowed to talk about his WRITING, as opposed to just philosophizing about technology like in most interviews.

Sometimes (fe for me) It's in fact hard to move the characters somewhere else. So when William said you have to keep writing until you get them out of the room I realised it's at the same time very simple.

Kinda hoping the dude with all the books in the question line didn't have a question and was just hoping to get his books signed as he seemed always next in line, but never getting the opportunity to ask his question.

I have 2 comments for Mr. Gibson. 1) Eunice having an introductory party similar to saying "Hello World" was brilliant from a cyberpunk perspective and reminded me why Neuromancer and Pattern Recognition made me a long time fan. 2) With regards to Mr. Gibson's personification of U.S. military personnel, it is my opinion he is personally glorifying war criminals and cyberterrorists as brave, heroic, and deserving of my attention as a fiction character or caricature of DARPA/U.S. military personnel.

It's always been weird to me that the man who coined "cyberspace" and invented one of the most gritty sci-fi subgenres looks and sounds like a southern bumpkin farmer. (And yes, I know that he's from South Carolina, hence the heavy accent).

i know this comment is from 3 years ago, but I kinda love your comment in a way. Gibson talks so much about the past in his personal life, he loves history and personal histories the most. I think it helps him write better futures.
