Interesting. Some of the visual style and pacing in this episode is 15-20 years ahead of its time.

Have watched several of these the last few days, so far ahead of its time with so many of the topics it’s tackling.

Diana Douglas played the defense lawyer Mrs. Brandon beautifully. Sexy, competent, and fierce. Diana Douglas was the ex-wife of Kirk Douglas and the mother of Michael Douglas. All the actors on this show are wonderful, even the bit players. This show was really courageous in how it handled difficult topics. And it is impressive how often handsome DA David Koster is portrayed unsympathetically. Most shows of the day were totally in love with their series hero.

William Shatner made up for showing his flaws in Star Trek.... which seems to have come right on the heels of this show. In Star Trek, Captain Kirk hid his flaws.

Thank you for posting this. What an excellent show. And, the first time I’ve ever seen Jessica Walter play a normal, lovely person. Shatner is terrific.

I wondered why I didn't remember this show. Then found out it was opposite Bonanza. Nothing could stand against the Cartwrights! 😄

@@cementer7665 Well, my parents controlled the TV, so I watched what was available or did without! Bonanza was okay when I was very young, I was horse crazy and got to see a lot of them. I did enjoy Have Gun Will Travel a lot more, and have gone through all the episodes in the last year or so on KZfaq. I've always enjoyed Richard Boone in anything.

This is a virtual who's who of character actors. What a lineup. Why didn't Shatner go into more drama movies? Its nice to see Jessica Walters.

Star Trek was its own Force of Nature that came on the heels of this series. Once he started with Star Trek, he and Captain Kirk became Superstars.

I was only 6 back in the 60s when this show originally aired. I've no recollection of it, and it's highly likely it never even aired on the two English channels we could get (CJOH and CBOT, in Ottawa, Canada). Most of the shows I recall fondly from that era don't really hold up well when compared with TV today, and I enjoy them more for the nostalgia they afford than the quality they may or may not possess. I'm not one of those that believes everything was better back then, nor do I pine for the past, but I have to say that in the three episodes of this show I've thus far watched, I am suitably impressed. Even now, this is imminently watchable. Moreover, it is amazing how cogent and relevant the stories remain, how you could easily take the same scripts and without much alteration apply them to today's world and they would remain as impactful as I'm sure they were back in the mid-sixties. It's a pity the show didn't last, but as we so often see today, there is little veracity to that old adage that "the cream will always rise to the top."

If this was filmed in color it would be the same rough filming style as today's CSI, Law and Order, etc. WOW!!

When I watched the pilot episode, I thought I had just watched part 1 of 2. How refreshing to find a series that doesn't answer every question and tie up every loose end in a neat bow.

Hi, y'all! 😊.I've been looking at a lot of Wm. Shatner's performances Very competent. 100% concentration..... But another thing, sorry if it seems superfluous, but, what excellent skin ! So smooth, and which lasted many decades. May 2021, our Billi is 90 ! ( He said, " 90? ! 90 Is disgusting ! ".) What an excellent " specimen " !!! 😊🇬🇧💕🇬🇧😊

I never had a clue that William Shatner had another series before Star Trek. I saw him in The Defenders and now I see he was in For the People. Well I was between 9 and 10 years old at the time. I was a fan of Star Trek however.

At 40:23-24, shatner seems to stumble over the word. I wonder if that was intentional. Or why they didn't reshoot it.

Hi, I would think because we are human we stumble once in awhile over our words.. the character was upset..it seemed human enough.. why try to make him perfect..personally i think they left it in intentionally..at least i hope so. Someone else commented that they often showed that the character Shatner played was flawed..anyway good catch. Love that Kirk✌
