First Nations or Native Americans have a lot in common with us Scots, much like tribes we had clans. Much like the first nations in Canada we Scots have been shafted in the past and present.
@MarinaLaroche

@@chrismcnee9287 All First Nations in Canada especially in Eastern Canada (except for the Mohawks) were friends with the French till the Brits showed up later. First Nations fought alongside the French against the Brits and the Mohawks who had joined the Brits. There are excavations done that show First Nations lived inside forts with the French. When the Scots arrived later in Canada, they aligned themselves with their oppressors the English.....

Marina Laroche I had never learnt that before. Does that include the catholic scots? Although it’s not as widely reflected, a great many catholic scots still hate the Brits as they represent the Protestant church. Crazy sad that religion has done so much harm to nations and as we all know First Nations people.

The sword of an archangel. Sounds about right to me. But a man that is 6'8" is hard to imagine, yet the sword is unusually super sized for any man of normal height. HE ws the rightful KING of SCOTLAND. Edward the 1st of England was a CHUMP. Long live William Wallace & Robert The Bruce who took up his sword against England in the name of William Wallace. Long live Scotland in freedom from the English.

I came across your videos by chance. So far I've watched all the Stirling ones and they have been awesome and well informed. Being local to the area it's been cool seeing you and your viewers enjoy something that maybe us locals take for granted a little. Sadly the sword in the monument is not the Wallace sword per se. It's said Wallace's sword was held in Dumbarton castle after his death and some time later was refurbished. It is believed that the tip and the handle have come from two other swords and that the middle section is the sword Wallace yielded. Glad you enjoyed your time here. Quality vide. Gaun yerself big man :)

To all those in the comments (safe) here that say they will never be able to go, GO! The only one holding you back is your own fear! Sure, I know, life gets in the way, but never say never. And the rush you get leaving your comfort zone? It's awesome. My first step I was afraid of the ocean, I took a cruise! 2 years after? Flight over seas to London- yes made sure to see the William Wallace spot. 2 years more, I'm paying towards a trip to Paris! All these great places in history, are real, see THEM. I work hard (30k) and save my pennies, lol. Find a great travel agent, work out a budget, grab a friend- it's cheaper for 2- and go. I'll die poor, but I can't take it with me! No regrets.

I don't know how you could record this video without crying the whole dam time. I cried watching it. Thank you for making this video. As a true American patriot the great William Wallace is one of my heroes. He sits beside Jefferson Jackson Jay and Washington on my list. I watch my Country falling further into a Fascist Police State ruled by an elite Oligarchy hand picked from aristocratic bloodlines. Those that believe voting is the answer are letting our once great Nation fall into perdition.

@@MrBobthebird #1 The American Indians wouldn't stop fighting among themselves or there's no way they could've been defeated. Sam Houston tried to get the Cherokee tribes to unite. But they refused to put off petty differences and generations old grudges. And the Trail of Tears was the result. If you visit any Reservation in America you will find all the glass busted out of the windows animals living in the houses and 5 broken down cars up on blocks in nearly every yard. What a noble people! I condemn the way they broke the spirit of the Lakota Soux and the Apache people. That was a travesty and pure evil. Those responsible either have or will be held responsible for their actions as we all will. #2 Segregation was a construct of the Democratic party the same pretending to love the blacks today yet support policy that would keep them dependent on the State. And Woodrow Wilson segregated D.C.. So birdbobber I'm aware of the terrible things that have been done in the past. Name on Nation that ever existed that was perfect. I thought so! And I don't bother voting anymore. As it's the act of choosing one's taskmaster. The candidates on both sides are decided before the primaries by the same scumbag pedophile Lucifarian Elite pigs. I pray not for much longer GOD willing. Bro you need to drop your bitter hatred and learn to love or you won't ascend and I'd like to see you in the 5th. So I've read... the sword had been misplaced on multiple occasions and altered over time. But who knows, the articles seem to be built on purely speculation. But they do make some good points on how the build of the sword would have been different during Wallace's time frame because some of the swords features weren't around during his period.

The sword is 5’4” long, it’s not taller than a 6’ foot person. It’s also 6.6 pounds so it’s heavy for a sword.

I am very late to this fine video but...... Thank you for filming all this and for talking about my ancestor William Wallace. I have been watching videos about William Wallace to see how others talk about him. Some people might think it is wrong to have clips of the film Braveheart in this video but...The Wallace Monument cerebrates the known history of William and the myth of the man and the film adds to the myth. The Wallace sword dates back to the 12th century, the Wallace Sword is an antique two-handed sword purported to have belonged to William Wallace. It dates from the right time period but the sword was broken and repaired many years ago. William was know to have been a skilled archer. He must have had more than one sword in his life as a sword can be broken in battle. Your video here brought back a lot of memories for me. I remember going to the Wallace Monument in the late 1990s when I was a young adult (I am 45 now). My dad was still alive back then. My Mum and Dad would not climb up all the stairs to the top so I went up all the steps by myself. My dad was into motor racing and has been to Knockhill racing circuit many times. Thank you for showing and interest in my ancestor William Wallace. Lovely video.

Went there with my dad a couple of years ago on a day trip from Edinburgh. Don't think the sword is the one Wallace actually used, as they couldn't make swords that big at the time. Great trip though! Greetings from Ireland.
