This cut features Paul Buskirk, a very fine Texas musician, who along with Tiny Moore was one of the earliest to play electric mandolin, back in the early 1950s. Paul was influential early in Willie Nelson's career. Johnny Gimble, another fine Texas musicians and former member of Bob Wills,Texas Playboys, is hidden in the corner of the scene on rhythm guitar rather than his usual fiddle.

The signs of a true singer/songwriter and professional performer is when you loose your place on the guitar and just keep on singing and pick up where you left off on the guitar a few bars later. Bravo!!!

Thanks for great upload ! Can you indicate the name of the musicians ? (Johnny Gimble on rhythm guitar???) Jo (France)
@sensorysyrynx10 жыл бұрын
Yes, Johnny Gimble on rhythm guitar, and that's Paul Buskirk playing electric mandola. I saw Paul play that instrument at the Shakey's pizza parlor in Bellaire, Texas back in the 1970s, during a difficult time in his life. I never saw him again in person, but was happy to see and hear him later with Willie.

Who ever told him he could sing? Did he have a much better voice when he was younger?
@tedhobbs2699 Жыл бұрын
He might not even care that you think he can't sing .Not that Willie Nelson has much left to prove. One of the most beloved figures in American culture, he has sold more than 40 million records, 18 of them platinum-certified, in his 60-plus-year career. He’s received the Kennedy Center Honors and the Gershwin Prize from the Library of Congress. So -- Who cares for your opinion ?
