That must be why Naija is so obsessed with preachers and build so many megachurches there. As for education & scholarship, a large majority of brainpower seems to go overseas rather than be overwhelmed by a contrived religious society. One that doesn't have much care for logic.

@garyclarke5417
@garyclarke5417 2 ай бұрын
People talk about how clean Praia is, unfortunately this is not true everywhere. On Sal island (Which is the most popular island for tourists) the centre of the main tourist town, Santa Maria, is kept quite clean, but walk just a few minutes from the centre and it is horrifically dirty and you are still surrounded by small hotels and tourist apartment buildings so you are not "Out in the sticks" so to speak. There is so much rubbish, dog faeces and building rubble everywhere it really is disgraceful for an Island that relies so heavily on tourism. if you ask a local person about the things that are not good on Sal they will all say the same thing "All the money stays in Praia". Don't get me wrong, I like being on Sal in winter, the climate and longer hours of daylight compared to the UK is an obvious bonus, and the local people are generally nice and pretty laid back, but the lack of cleanliness in Santa Maria is disgraceful and makes me wonder if this is true on other Islands.
@WillieFungo
@WillieFungo 2 ай бұрын
Santa Maria was definitely odd. But i think the problem there is that it is basically deserted. No one seems to actually live there. On the other hand, Espargos actually looked like a normal clean city.

Well, the cleanest island is Fogo. São Filipe is the cleanest city in Cape Verde. I've lived abroad for about 12 years, but I believe it still holds the title of the cleanest city in Cape Verde. Fogo people have a different approach when it comes to cleaning.

@WillieFungo
@WillieFungo 3 ай бұрын
Currency numbers actually don't matter much unless you are doing short term forex trading. But in terms of cost of living, food at restaurants is around the same as the U.S., transportation is slightly cheaper, and housing/hotels are significantly cheaper. Quality city center hotels go for around $50-$70.
@Wolff13

DNA. You can't say the paternal line is from Portugal as there were enslaved black men on the island. But rather many people have Portugees DNA
@WillieFungo
@WillieFungo 3 ай бұрын
No, the DNA testing shows the paternal line for creole Cape Verdeans is mainly from Portugal and Europe generally. The reason is that very few European women were willing to move to Cape Verde. So the white settlers reproduced with African women. A large majority of the male slaves in such conditions did not reproduce. Around 30% of the population is badiu or "black" Cape Verdeans who will have both paternal and maternal African ancestry. But this will still be heavily slanted towards maternal.
@WillieFungo
@WillieFungo 3 ай бұрын
@@cromy1778 Yea, whatever bro. I'm going to stick to my quality sources such as the National Library of Medicine, BioRX, and "Tracing African Roots", which sampled over 200 Cape Verdean 23&me results and found that vast majority of their African DNA came from Senegambia and Guinea. Also, don't tell me what I "meant". Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, and Guinea Bissau, all have the same DNA profile. Third, the Portuguese had very limited operations in Angola at the time of Cape Verdean colonization in the 15th century. I see that you are trying to "correct" me all over this page. But I don't post anything without strong factual backing and sources. If you have different theories, feel free to share them on your own video.

No they didn't. The Portuguese ruled the islands, but 95% of the population was black or mixed, even in the 19th century according to a British accounts from 1832.

So why is this video "Shocking" as you put it? What was shocking about a tourist walking through a foreign land? It seemed like a nice enough tourist trap I guess. Didn't see anything "Shocking" about it at all. Kinda bland and desultory.

Well, it convinced you to watch a "bland and desultory" video and leave a comment. So I think the title is doing it's job.

@@WillieFungoI find your response interesting, and revealing. You assume the usage of inflammatory language is what got me to watch your video. I looked through the video because I never heard of this place and love checking out new places. I was initially about to pass over it when I saw the salacious "Shocking." To me, this is a turn-off. Maybe others too? I don't know: Humanity is plenty base. There's plenty at the bottom. But I guess the job is to appeal to that base. Get views. Words like a come-on. A hook. A deception. Well, I guess if that's its job. I thought it was a nice enough video, I just didn't understand the "Shocking' part. I think such tactics are ultimately destructive to one's creative integrity and diminish one's message. Writ large, I guess I just have a hard time with the modern disregard for a word's meaning as well as bombastic or deceptive language. I think there is something fundamentally wrong there. And it concerns me that others do not use their word with integrity. Maybe that's frivolous tiresome or not worthy of consideration to others. Well, that's how I see it. I am sure you've another perspective.

You overestimate your knowledge. China sells a different quality of products to the U.S than it sells to developing countries because those items are made through contracts with U.S firms. Everyone knows this. You need to ask questions instead of embarrassing yourself. I don't have time to spell out every small detail for low information people like you.

@@WillieFungo i can be a low information Guy, like you Saïd but at least i can talk portuguese and criolo and those are the spoken languages in Cabo Verde, not English, and it seems that my English is not bad at all, because you can understand me. Now a question to you a High information guy can you speak portuguese, or criolo? And do you think that you have more information about Portugal and Cabo Verde then me?
