No wonder Levon left Dylan's tour when they were getting booed. This is what Levon wanted--a bouncing, dancing, good-time crowd who appreciated the music. He looks sooooooo happy here. And this is a great lineup--that kid on the other drum kit is terrific. (This makes Clapton's version sound like he recorded it in his sleep.)

Sadly, Levon’s nephew terry Cagle (also playing drums here) passed on 2/12/23. He was the drummer for the Cate Brothers band (playing guitar and keyboards here). All from Fayetteville, Arkansas

In a couple of weeks, I'll be 80. This stuff still resonates with me. And they tried to tell me rock and roll was only a passing fad in the fifties. Great rendition of a great hit.

Me too 84 and still rocking. Check out “ Classic 70’s TV Show Dance Party” How about them Flares, 24 inch bottoms on your pants. I know this is disco The50’s was when it all started to change. Who’d you reckon started it Elvis, Bo Diddly or maybe Fats Domino. Levon used to be with Ronnie Hawkins on Yonge street Toronto.Used to go there then,

There is fan facebook page dedicated to the band and his actual daughter had mentioned him and he appears to be recovering now from something else that wasn't cancer related. facebook.com/groups/276229503233675

I only live 2 hours birth place Elaine, AR. Love to head to the Delta and soak up all the music history in and around Helena-West Helena and cruise the Levon Helm Memorial Highway. Levon was one of a kind.

Your opinion is your opinion but I have to side with Louie Belson, Buddy Rich and Eddie Shaughnessy as far as great drummers go. Kenny Aronoff stands out for me as a rock solid journeyman drummer. Keep rockin' in the free world.

How are they underrated? Buy a dictionary cause these guy's are considered to be some of the best musicians in their respective fields, they made great music and wrote some of the most iconic songs ever ( the weight always makes the lists of greatest songs ever etc ) People only have praise for their musicianship and the fact they had three singers,not underrated at all

I love how the crowd is getting into this song. They didn't need Robbie Robertson. He did Levon and the guys so wrong. Read Levon's book, This Wheel's on Fire. Robbie took credit for writing all those songs. No way! Miss you Levon, Rick and Richard. RIP

Helm seems such a "child" here. I think he got better the closer the "reaper" came. The "Band" is still my favorite group of all-time in this form of "rock."

RIP Johnny Otis who wrote "Willy and the Hand Jive" way back in the 50's....Nobody did it quite as good as Johnny and Shuggie Otis and their band...Was a big hit on TV when the screens were round and the picture was about a foot across....I remember in 1954 watching it every week....!

I was indeed lucky enough to see them once after I sobered up.l'm getting old as well but it was as close to extacy as I can recall.Every member a master.
