Honestly both versions have their strengths and weaknesses. The original is a classic, but the Tim Burton version is closer to the book as an adaptation

Oh come guys the Johnny Depp one wasn't that bad. To be fair, that one was actually more faithful to the book by Roald Dahl... with a few liberties taken. Here's a fun fact, though while we enjoyed the Gene Wilder one, the author never really liked it cause it wasn't faithful to his creation.

There was a sequel to the book but the author refused to give them the rights to the book for another movie since he hated the film. He didn't even like gene wilder as Willy Wonka ☹️
