This is a recording of Carolina Performing Arts' Omar Teacher Training Initiative that took place on February 7, 2023. Carolina Performing Arts partnered with Carolina K-12 to work with local Triangle-area teachers to help them incorporate Omar ibn Said into their classrooms, and invited these students to an Open Rehearsal of Omar, the opera, when it had its North Carolina premier in late February of 2023.
In this video, librarian Sarah Carrier explains the primary source documents of and by Muslim scholar Omar ibn Said that are part of the Wilson Library Collection at UNC Chapel hill, and how teachers can implement it in their classrooms.
