Last year I managed to make my way up to 1300. quit playing and started again 4-5 months ago and dropped to 1100 and was stuck there until these stonewall videos came out xD Finally made it to 1500. Still pretty low but it's fun to see progress again. This is my favorite series so far.

This series (together with the previous ones on the English, the King Indian, etc.) are very instructive, among the best on KZfaq. Could be interesting to see what happens when your subscribers play the Stonewall against you as a way to illustrate either the strength of the opening or typical mistakes.

Been hovering around 930-970 blitz for a while, finally broke 1000 today thanks to these videos, the open f file and kingside attacks are lethal! Still haven't figured out how to play this with black tho. Thanks Aman you are sexy and cute and decent at chess

Wish he showed all the games. It doesn't always work out and even if it doesn't work it would be nice to see what he plays when it's not possible based on the opponent's moves that don't allow the stonewall. What happened in the game that pushed his ELO from 1020 to 1036 for example? I find a lot of games with black transition into the French defense.
@real_reZmi

Yeah, I imagine it's mostly black games. Sometimes it's impossible to play stonewall as black.

He addresses that point in I think the first of the series where if the oppenent sends out e5 or something, just take and play another opening. Can't remember exactly what the advice was, but think it's early in the 400-500 episode

@@jonnyb6700 yeah the englund gambit's pretty bad for black if white knows what to do; learning some lines against 6... Bb4 and 6... Nb4 in the main line are probably enough to win ≥ 70% of your games haha

Question: I've been waiting to see what happens when opponents simply don't let you set up the stonewall (assuming I'm doing some things wrong) but I noticed sometimes there's a rating jump without any game to show it. Are you only showing the games where the opponent lets you set up the stonewall?
