Welcome to Heavy Recovery with Steve!
I'm Steve - a Heavy Vehicle Recovery Driver from the South of England. I've been involved in recovery all my life, from a young age working in a family-owned car recovery business and acquiring the licences necessary to operate some of the largest vehicles on the road, to eventually working for some of the largest recovery firms in the UK.
I've set up this channel to provide insights into the world of recovery and whether you're here with the intent to step into the world of recovery or just interested in seeing the action - I hope you find thoroughly enjoy the videos!

What an awful experience for the driver trying to reverse out in the dark on such limited road / track width and then sliding into the ditch but a professional job done by Pete and yourself recovering this truck without further incident.👍👍

If I lived in one of those houses I’d be out every few minutes with a brew for each of the lads. Purely out of kindness you understand, not so I can have a nosey at all I promise 😂 I quite enjoy watching recovery and incident work. To be honest I’d likened be involved in this sort of thing in the future.

Ive managed to put a lorry into much the same picture as this, had 4wd capability but ground was far too wet and the left side was underwater and sinking. Waited a couple hours for a wrecker and I was out in 20 minutes, absolutely awesome job, and some of the best drivers youll see

Another great job, good work saving the swimming truck. Saw an R&S truck down at Cobham services Jcn 10 couple weeks back, was too dark to see if it was you or not but gave you a wave anyway!

Nicely done, one of those jobs where one of the US style 60 ton rotators would have been hand . . apart from not having space to get it past the patient...

Thanks for watching , a rotator would of come in handy to lift and slew the rear of the truck out of ditch whilst i winched from front. But we got by with Pete using his top boom and re rigging to lift out ditch.

Think I saw yourself or a colleague today going from the M4 onto the M25 around 2pm ish 19/01/2023. I saw the reg on the truck, then missed the posted 40mph and 60mph signage 😂

great job in tight quarters Steve, I would've been very uncomfortable taking a heavy truck down that tiny road. around here that probably would've been recovered with off road machines (due to the tight access)

Amazing video! I really enjoyed seeing two trucks work together. Didn't know your tow trucks could reach that high up with their boom! Personally I would have enjoyed to see the rigging process a bit more in-depth, but I can see why you chose to cut them out. Most people would probably find it boring or a bit repetitive. It was nice to see a bit of change from the usual roadside recovery videos! (But keep those coming also hehe) Keep it up please! You're my favourite channel on this platform!

Hi Steve,loved this one something a little different for you,I know you said you didn't know if it came out on camera how much it was in the ditch but it did show us how bad it was but luckily it looked like it escaped damage and also lucky you could just squeeze past it to get to the front of it to pull it,out of curiosity how many vehicles in your fleet Steve?great job Steve & dave,have a great sunday🙂👍

Hi Matty thanks for watching and commenting, unfortunately the air tanks and air drier was on the nearside half way along underneath the body in the ditch. Otherwise i would of run a air line out to it , also the park brake operates the front wheels of the truck and had no air in system .Engine started ok with no oil light on dash otherwise i be getting wet that day as last result if did not start, Cheers mate.

I have a little question, in past videos when pulling a lorry, why is it that you have take out the halfshafts/center driveshaft? Can’t you just put the lorry in neutral?

Hi Jonah thanks for watching , we have to disconnect the drive to gearbox to safeguard and potential damage as per manufacturers instructions . Even with manual gearbox and in neutral or engine idling the gearbox internals want be lubricated sufficiently.

@@HeavyRecoverywithSteve Reminded me a lot of the parts south of Hamburg where I've got family. Narrow lanes and ditches that are deeper than they look. You both did a great job getting him free and he looked mightily relieved to be back on all axles there.

They generally have to come out as they went in as you will well know but that was an awkward pull. If ever there was a watercourse that needed culverting that’s it. Definitely not truck friendly access. I’m very surprised the banking didn’t give way and create a very difficult situation for you. I’m guessing the builders merchants driver won’t forget that drop in a hurry and won’t be in a rush for another drop there!

Hi Edward ,i would contact your local recovery company tell them your intentions and hopefully they let you come out for a day , see whats the jobs like a go from there. I have been taking someone out for a few days and now he wants to leave his job and come full time with us . There's a shortage of heavy drivers so hopefully companies will make the effort to take you out , good luck.

Narrow road + muddy road + slippery+ Crash point+ a ditch with full of water + wire slings under tension + Stand on the ledges + About to fall into the water In the end, the job done successfully 🤝👏👏👏
