I’ve had mine for over three years and had very minimal problems. Had a couple phases where it got very dirty duck hunting and didn’t want to cycle shells, but that was my fault. I did lose my charging handle but sent the gun into Winchester and they fixed the issue under warranty, and have not had problems since. Thanks for the review!

Bought mine last January after purchasing one for my son previous fall. Fell in love with his and had to have one. Only issue is have to clean the gas piston area after a few uses. Once it gets gunked up it won't eject. But very easy to clean.

Had a Camo SX4. absolutely loved it. It never jammed took it deer/turkey/duck/pheasant/quail/dove hunting unfortunately my garage was broken into and they broke open the safe and stole it along with several others. before I got my Benelli M2 I used it for 3gun competition

I have had a Winchester SX4 for 2 seasons now. Has yet to to jam or have any malfunctions. Shoulders good, used it DuckHunting, Turkey Hunting, and Some Deer Hunting With it. Overall I give it 5 out of 5 👍

Bought my SX4 black synthetic here in Norway in 2017 used it alot, 12 gauge 3,5 inch chamber. Never failed me once use alot of shells every season super happy with never regret 👍🏻👍🏻😊😊😊 Last year i bought a Remington 870 Super Magnum Express. First time i shoot a pump action gun, it was kind of tricky at first because used to my SX4. But always wanted a pump aswell. But alot more issues with the Remington not every shot shell it cycle good jams up from time to time. SX4 is more reliable gun i recommend it. Love the new SX4 that came out this year👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Hey Josh, I have both a 12 ga and 20 ga SX4. They are both great guns. They are 2 years old... I got the 12 ga first... I liked it so much I bought the 20 ga. I've used those 2 guns exclusively for the past 2 seasons, with the 20 ga being my favorite. The only issue I've had was with the 20 ga.. After 4 or 5 days of hunting in the rain I cleaned it really well, but then a few days later it started not cycling shells. I discovered that it was the recoil spring in the stock... it was gummed up really bad and rusted. I had not cleaned that part previously... But once I cleaned it, and reassembled, it cycled like a champ. I will say that taking that spring out is a pain in the butt! I'm not sure who thought it would be a great idea to put a roll pin to keep the screw in place, but it takes a lot to get it out... especially if you're not familiar with how those things work. Bought the SX4 in camo and liked it so much that I bought the same gun in the Upland model. Both 12 gauge. Now I’m leaning towards the Upland model in 20 gauge. Great bang for your buck!!! Never a doubt when you pull the trigger.

I’ve owned 3 of them. Kept getting rid of them thinking I was going to get a benelli but kept buying sx4s. LOVE THEM. Never had any issues with them. They fit well feel great shoot true. There’s a reason I kept going back to them. You will not regret getting one if you are thinking about it

I bought the Compact SX4 3” 12 with a 26” about three years ago. Had to return it due to jenky safety/trigger group. Brownchester sent me a brand new gun. I’m a fan of the great customer service and the gun itself. I am a hard “fit” for shotguns and don’t shoot many well. I shoot this gun very, very well. I’d recommended it to anyone. I’ve never shouldered the Beretta Outlander comfortably (which I own); the Sx4 handles and knocks down birds like a dream. This gun is also extremely reliable- whether it is wet, cold, etc. Can’t recommend enough.

Shot an SX4 for 2 seasons and never had an issue. Shoots great patterns for waterfowl and turkey with a patternmaster code black duck. Nothing bad to say about it

I recently picked a camo one new for 750 absolutely love it I also run a carlsons choke for ducks and geese then when that bigger honkers come in I’ll throw in my code black goose and fold them this gun has been the best I’ve owned

Shot sx4 past three seasons and I love this thing. I did experience the missing charging handle but the repair center machined the replacement bolt so it wouldn't go flying and it hasn't. I also have a bent rib and no idea how that happened..this season I took it into the shop because it froze up. It turns out my hunting in the salt marsh caught up with me and I had to replace the rusted mainspring. My bad for not maintaining that. I got a loaner SBE3 for half this season and while I liked it, when I got back the SX4 it felt like my baby was back and I used it to smoke two fat geese.

I have sx 3 in 12 and 20 never had a jam shoots great. I have sx 4 in 12 with serial number 218. Only issue is 3.5 inch shells every great once in a while. I can tell you they pattern great with any shell, any choke any condition. I have a sbe3 that has shot height, left, and you have to find the perfect shell with perfect choke to shoot a decent pattern.

I had mine for one season and during goose conservation it was cycling 3 1/2 hyper sonic shells for about 10 shots then it would jam so great gun

Started with an SX3 shooting cormorants for the feds. Thousands of rounds. Have 4 SX4s now. LOVE them. Sold my Benellis and went all in with Winchester.

Mine didn’t want to cycle 3 1/2’s when I first got it, Does now fine. I clean mine about 3 times a season to keep it cycling smooth. Good gun for the price of them

Bought one of these 2+ years ago. Used it for waterfowl, turkey and dove. Never had a issue with it. I do clean mine after just about every hunt. I hunt out of a kayak most of the time so it gets pretty wet and muddy but it's never skipped a beat.

Had mine for 3 seasons. it's never failed me once. Also, you can just get a new barrel for those things. I've got the standard 28" barrel and I bought a cantilevered turkey barrel since throwing a full choke in the stock barrel and patterning for turkeys was WAY off the mark. turkey barrel pretty much right on but gonna add a small red dot this season.

I've got a stoeger with that black finish. It rusted too. Then I hydrdipped it myself and zero problems with rust since.

I introduced myself to Winchester shotguns for a trap league after goin 1/50 with a Mossberg 500. Instantaneous improvement and the fit of these firearms to my body is incredible. They are the shotguns that fit me, and I am so happy with my sx4 and sxp trap models. Every high point you mentioned nailed it and this is an impressive review. Extremely well done and I recommend these to everybody.

Shot the SXP last year. Just bought the SX4 in the hybrid pattern. Haven’t shot it yet but can’t wait for waterfowl season. As long as gun performs well for you thats all that matters. You can find something negative about any gun no matter the price point. Love the videos.

I started out with 2 SX 1 shotguns The first one had a 30inch full chook and the second one had a 28 inch mod and a 26inproved cylinder .I shot 5 leagues and hunted water foul and up land birds .This stated when it was legal to use led .I shot thousands of rounds with out any failures .The two guns were so good I bought a SX4 two years ago and so far have no problems with it .Fits like a glove .Still love the SX 1 ,just wanted a three and a half inch .

No never used one. I have Two that I use mostly One is a 12 ga. Browing A5. Two is a12 ga. Remington Versa Max Pro Bore. Never an issue with either one. Enjoyed it Josh

Totally agree that if you want your gun to get damaged nothing will do that faster than shooting out of a kayak. On the bright side with just a blued barrel you can always just sand that down and re blue it, with those camo painted ones im not sure how durable the paint is but you might be out of luck when that gets damaged.

Drill a hole in the lowest part of the butt stock near the recoil pad. To drain off water that gets in the butt stock.

I've had the sx4 for about 3 years now and no issues with it at all except for when I shoot the big magnums the charging handle flys out and that's kind of a big deal

Had the same thing happen to my rib on mine, took it into the machine shop and got it bent right back. My barrel rusts pretty bad also, just sent it off to get cerakoted.

I have a Super X1 in Skeet, a Super X2 in Composite, a Super X3 in Slug gun. Next will be a Super X4 in 20 ga. As you can see, I'm a Winchester gun guy and have Model 12's, Model 94's, Moder 64 and 71 and many Model 70's, Winchester just never lets you down. Best Gun's ever built..

This video helps with perspective and general reliability in Winchester. I just purchased my first shotgun and chose the sxp. The sx4 was sitting right next to it on the rack but I figured I would probably be better off with a pump for my first gun. Maybe I can graduate on to the sx4 after the next season. So far Winchester feels like it will be a comfortable fit for me. Thanks for the video!

Love my sx4 I have the 3” Waterfowl Model in real tree max 5 camo 28” barrel paired with a Patternmaster code black goose choke , cycles all the shells I’ve put in , folds the honkers real good 👍 always keep it clean , great product from Winchester

Love my sx4. shoots thro any weather. the new model all bottomland cost me $1025 . Have the kicks highflyer choke . Long as im on birds crumble.

I have one in 20ga and I love it. I either use rio or Remington 1oz at 1400 FPS 4’s for ducks, or boss 1-1/8oz 4 for ducks and geese.

@@kurtwilhelm3823 it is enough for ducks a geese. I find bismuth makes it a solid option today. Not that steel doesn’t work, but payloads are small and you usually have to go up in pellet size to get enough pellets to satisfy pattern density. If you get your birds in tighter, it’s more than enough. I’m in PA and it’s not always the easiest to get them in real tight. I have a few videos up on my channel showing pattern with 20ga and different ammo options.

Hi all I brought a winchester SX4 and used it for the first time last season, a very nice shooter, only one isue some rounds wouldn't eject or recycle properly so I put some more gun oil on the moving parts and it fixed that problem, so I'm only one season in and several hundred rounds fired and I would highly recommend this shotgun. Mine is having the cycling issue you are referring to out of the box(after lubricating) I did a basic cleaning and lubrication today with Winchester's recommended products. Have yet to shoot again, hopefully this also fixes my issue or I'll be looking for a refund/exchange! Love the fit and feel but cycling issues on a brand new gun is discouraging.

I have the sx4 in 20 gauge the only complaint I have is I couldn’t get the choke out brand new it was bone dry I had to put a screwdriver in the wrench for leverage it was seized that pissed me off but after some choke grease it’s fine the gun shoots great awesome gun

The butt pad wore down on mine after 4th year. I cut up some old waders and made a pad, ir works great haha. Still haven't lost the charging handle. Been lucky to find it when it fell out 2x. Mine gets abused too haha. No issues cycling.

Mines is pretty much as old as yours but the gun was soo damn good the “ maxus 2” is the sx4 I own both!! The sx4 hands down the one to get if your on a budget!! Only issues I’ve had was my charge handle went 🪰in during🦃 season front bead came off this year idk how but other than that I’ve abused let ppl use drop in water snow ice never has it not went 💥 Josh didn’t tell y’all how crazy the Turkey loads pattern with a kicks highFlyer turkey choke 🥺😶‍🌫️ y’all if you can’t afford the maxus 2 which is hands down the best and I mean the best all around 12ga out there sx4 is move for you!!

You can take a screw driver and go under neath the rib and straighten out those dents. Had to do that on mine when it got nocked over.

i bought a Beretta A300 Ultima due to availability. Should have waited for an SX4 as I had to send my A300 back to Beretta after it failed the first time in the field for a known trigger reset problem:( They've had it for 5 weeks and counting.

Do you ever have trouble with the sx4 loading 3 1/2 in shells in the magazine ? After I put one shell in the mag the second shell has to be lined up perfectly to plung in the mag tube and can be a pain. ive cleaned the mag tube and even sprayed a little rem oil in the follower area with zero results.. Maybe just my gun. I love this gun and have been shooting the SX4 since they first came out. No other problems to complain about. Probably at least 1000 rounds down the pipe with waterfowl loads.

I’ve also had mine for 4 seasons and it only wouldn’t cycle on one occasion. I cleaned it too well after a season of not cleaning it. Went on a sporting clays shoot and she wouldn’t eject. Gave her some lube and she didn’t skip a beat again! Absolutely love it! Hands down my favorite shotgun that I’ve ever owned. I completely agree with your review. Luckily I’ve never lost a charging handle though 😁

Four years is nothing in gun life. I have my Dads 20 gauge that has been used a lot for over 80 years and it never fails.

Dented ribs, lost charging handles, beads falling off and loose stocks were way too common issues for me to invest in one. Also, my buddy’s shot almost a foot left with a turkey choke, even after sending it back to Winchester and returning the choke for a different one. They’re all going to have their quirks, I know.
