I have a question. We have all hurricane rated windows & doors as of 1 year ago. We did NOT get the shutters as well because we thought the rated protection was enough. On the wind mit form which box should be checked for wind rated products without any shutters? The wind mit form is so confusing. Thank you for your expertise.

Don’t waste your money on a mitigation inspection, just call in a salesman. They are the same thing only you know what to expect from the salesman.

Hi CC. I am assuming you are speaking about a roofing salesperson? A roofing salesperson is not qualified to fill out a wind mitigation inspection in Florida unless they are a licensed roofer. Additionally, most roofers tend to get other items wrong on the wind mitigation since the inspection asks questions not pertaining to roofs which can hurt your insurance discounts. Lastly, most roofing companies will not supply a wind mitigation unless you purchase a roof, even still, they hire a third-party inspector to perform their wind mitigation.

Actually, I just had a Wind Mitigation done because my Insurance company wanted to raise my rates from 3950 per year to over 6500 per year. After getting the Wind Mitigation report done, which was only $100.00, I was able to get new coverage at just 3225 per year. That's less than HALF of what my old policy was, lowering my mortgage payment by more than 250 bucks a month!
