Walked Offa’s Dyke in my twenties ( 50 years ago ), started at Prestatyn, walked to Chepstow, Then walked it back along the dyke to Clun and then walked to Bridgnorth where my parents had a caravan, in all took me around a month, eventually when I got back to work with no reasonable excuse to not having been there and no doctors note to bluff any “ Illness “ I may have encountered my boss politely told me where to go, but you know I had just returned from an adventure and I couldn’t have cared less, so with a smile and a skip in my stride I was at the Labour exchange ( Job Centre ) on the Monday and after choosing a job with many on offer I started work on the Tuesday, no longer walking long distance paths at 70, but memories remain and yes the Dyke was a defensive construction, nice video by the way, thanks for sharing…..Mike

Only one problem with using Readly, you will end up having the local news shops closing down because no one will go to them any longer. For example, a customer will no longer have human interaction, buy other products from the shop, and in time the shop will close and the owner will be out of work and the downward spiral will continue........Just saying. Still love your videos!

Hi Brendon, in Welsh Lynn means lake, no wonder you see so many signs with that name. Nice lake on the ‘back road’ to Tywyn near Aberdovey - Tal-y-Lyn (the long lake). Really flat in the valley. Nice pub there (if it’s still open post-covid), good food and seating outside. Soooo quiet there - oh, until the odd Hawk jet hurtles down the valley! You used to be able to hire little rowing boats from the building opposite the pub. You could Google to see if pub has van over nighters in its car park.

Great vid as always B, I believe Offas Dyke was constructioned in the 8th century on the orders of King Offa of Mercia for defence and divides from other Kingdoms and the Welsh, it spans many many miles along the welsh border. With some lovely walks with beautiful views 😊x

@BrendanExplores The British Isles was a patchwork of communities/Kingdoms ran by powerful Chieftans/Kings ever changing through war, alliences & marriages this continued for hundreds of years after the Romans left. Then insert the Northmen (Vikings) in 793AD when they landed in Lindisfarne and plundered the monastery and put the fear of God into the people literally 😳 its obviously long winded with many a tale missing but this is where the Kingdom of Wessex begin to emerge very powerful and where the TV drama "The Last Kingdom" draws it inspiration from, if you haven't guessed I do love reading about history it's just a hobby tho.... (DISCLAIMER) I'm no history buff 🤣x

Hi brendan, I belive your theory about offa's dyke is correct. We actually drive green lanes all over shropshire and parts of wales, and it just so happens we drive some lanes over and around offa's dyke! So many walks and trails. Great content as always

As an owner of a 1967 split screen owner I can tell you they are cold and not particularly great to drive. But they are such an iconic vehicle and you wouldn’t believe how much interest they generate wherever you are!!! They’re fantastic to own and great investments, even though I have no intention of selling mine.

@@BrendanExplores Hey! I never tried it, since its not being sold in Sweden. Seems like it's produced in the UK with Swedish owners. Common ciders in Sweden are Rekoderlig, Kopparberg etc.

Llyn translated to English means lake. The way we pronounce it in Welsh is with a double LL, which many find hard to do. The best way to do it is to put the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth and sharply blow through your mouth. Now that your going over the Dyke for a few more visits I'm expecting some proper Welsh from you Brendan, Good Morning - Bore Da. Pronounced Bo-re(as in do, RH, mi) and the Da part is pronounced like Ya but do it as a D instead if the Y (and da is actually cow in welsh, another one you can use lol) Good night is- Nos Da. Basically you just say No, but it's Noooos Da (da as in above) Thank you is Diolch - So it's D....ol......ch(the sound you make when u just start to snore) They'll love you in certain parts of Wales if you try a few Welsh words. Expecting to see some Welsh from you and Matty in a few vids now and if you go to that railway station in North Wales, it's another one I can teach you!!
