This was a fairly simple story about a horrible thing, representative of larger horrible thing, perfectly-paced , wonderfully acted, and masterfully told. And I thought it was a brilliant piece of filmmaking.

That is what Taylor Sheridan said about his writing because he’s “allergic” to exposition he writes incredibly simple plots so he could focus more on the characters

This movie is extremely underrated. I wasn’t expecting much when I put it on, but it blew me away. I was hooked from start to finished.

This movie was made to bring attention to the rampant problem of missing indigenous women and men. There are thousands of missing indigenous peoples from the United States and Canada that have never been heard from again and have never been accounted for. Look out for a brothers and sisters. Peace!

This movie left echoes in mind. The mood/tone of it, like most great westerns, sticks somehow, and keeps calling me back. As a caribbean that lived, out of place, in the bitter cold of wisconsin for 7 years, I immediately got the menace of that environment -- how savage merciless it could be. I loved the way that the film and script kept the spotlight on quiet and enduring plight of remote tribe people -- I have relationships with Navajo people, in particular, and there's almost solemn & sullen way about their way of life -- almost makes sense that they don't speak out enough or loudly about their curcumstance, and just slip out of mind by the rest of us. As a writer myself most of my stories involve a tribe, and that's at least due to the influence of people like Taylor Sheridan, Cormac McCarthy, and Douglas Preston -- authors who keep casting a light on the untamed west & its cultures.. as if somehow that's still where America seeps from.

The score for this movie (by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis) is fantastic. It feels like a quiet, grey, cold winter day. Also, the main poem, "Far from your loving eyes / in a place where winter never comes" is legitimately beautiful.

Everytime I head someone say Pedro Pascal was the only one who could play Joel in the Last of Us, I thought of this movie and that Jeremy Renner would have been great. And vice-versa.

Marcus Cash "Who wrote this?" as you saw in credits Taylor Sheridan who Jimmy mentioned is Deputy Hale from SOA for many of us. Turns out he's a bit actor but a fantastic writer as he wrote this, as well as movies Hell or High Water and Sicario, TV shows Yellowstone, 1883, 1923, Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown, and Special Ops-Lioness(just finished really enjoyed it).

Taylor Sheridan’s dominating television right now. He’s got Yellowstone on Paramount Network (finishing up its fifth and final season starring Kevin Costner). He also has these shows on Paramount +: Mayor of Kingstown (2 seasons so far starring Jeremy Remner), 1883 (prequel miniseries to Yellowstone starring Sam Elliott and Tim McGraw), Tulsa King (1 season in so far starring Sylvester Stallone), 1923 (a Prequel to Yellowstone but a sequel to 1883 will be a two season show starring Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, and Timothy Dalton), Lioness (first season just ended starring Zoe Saldana, Nicole Kidman, and Morgan Freeman), and later this Year Lawman: Bass Reaves (starring David Oyelowo and Dennis Quaid)

Taylor Sheridan wrote this, Sicario, and Hell of High Water. Also his yellowstone series are amazing: 1883, 1923, and modern series. Yellowstone is a fun series 1883 and 1923 have one season each and modern has four.

29:25 yeah, he's played by Graham Greene. You recently saw him in The Last of Us S01E06 "Kin". He played the old man Joel & Ellie ask directions from. He was also in Maverick (a pretty great Western comedy). He also played Chief Rains Fall in Red Dead Redemption 2. And his son, Eagle Flies was played by Jeremiah Bitsui (the guy who plays Victor in Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul)

He was also in The Green Mile as Arlen Bitterbuck, and he was in the second Twilight movie as Harry Clearwater. (Along with Gil Birmingham, who played Billy Black in the whole series and was Martin Hanson here.)

One of my favorite acting moments in this movie is when the FBI agent is visiting the father of the victim and you can tell he is clearly grieving but he is holding it together by covering his pain and sadness with anger. Then Jeremy Renner shows up and there’s a split second when he sees him, recognizes him, remembers that the same thing happened to him previously. In that moment I just feel he’s not only hit by the pain of his own daughter’s loss but also an understanding of “this is what you felt like when it happened to you.” And then in the presence of his friend, he breaks and you can hear him through the door. For me this tiny moment was one of the most impactful of the whole movie.

Excellent movie! Had to refresh my Taylor Sheridan knowledge. I can't believe the person who made this movie, wrote Hell or High Water, and co-wrote Sicario (3 outstanding films) is also responsible for the awful Yellowstone and Tulsa King (among others). How can the quality of his writing vary so wildly. It's also weird to think that he's the sheriff from Veronica Mars, so random.

revolvers don't jam like semi-autos
@joenull594510 ай бұрын
Not only are they accurate and reliable, revolvers can also be chambered in large calibers (.44Magnum and greater) suitable for defense against bears and other large animals. Whereas, a semi-auto pistol chambered in those large calibers is often unreliable and heavier than a revolver chambered in the same caliber.

A revovler is fine. Nothing wrong with them. If you are planning to rely on your side arm then maybe more modern firearms that have higher ammo capacity and easy loading is better but I dont think he plans to fall back on his sidearm often. He is a hunter that primarily uses a rifle. Ppl all over the place still use revovlers tho. They are perfectly acceptable.
