@@Htown713southside if you’re in Houston you can go to MIAT and take the 7 month wind energy program. You don’t need to go to school for it though, some companies hire with schooling/experience like Skyclimber. Might start out on the lower end $18-20/hr but you can always switch companies for better pay

Depends on where you live and work I guess, it's possible that the 60k hes taking about could have the same buying power of your 100k . I live in the rural part of uk and earning anything over 50k after tax would give me a very comfortable life but then in some other parts of the uk that 50k would get me a 1 bedroom apartment and the stress of being able to afford food for the next month.

Hey there; I’m very interested in this line of work and I’m having a hard time understanding the education and career path to understanding on how to become a tech; what kind of school do you truly need and what did you do to become a tech? What recommendations do you have? I have no experience or education with electrical work or renewable energy or construction, but I have such a strong desire for this and I just want to learn and do what it takes. Does me having no experience or education in this field mean I have too much set back? Im 30 and just want to follow my passion and this looks like such a rewarding job.

I don’t see if you posted anything before this reply idk if it got removed but did you mention anything about education or technical training before applying to wind tech jobs? Again I have no prior electrical or mechanical experience or knowledge but if it’s required or recommended to land interviews and a job, what would you suggest? Thank you

That’d be a great income 30 years ago lol. Who wants to be out of town every waking work day of their life for mediocre money? Living in hotels, working construction with a bunch of assholes in the heat? Yo if you can do structural work, welding, rigging, electrical etc you can take those skills into almost any other industry.

It can be good or bad depending on the site and job your doing but I’ve been in wind for three years and love it. 56k is median salary for a local tech, if your are traveling you are making 80k minimum with 100k+ not uncommon including per diem

It depends on if you're willing to travel. I'm 2 weeks into the job and if you're willing to be located somewhere, usually 2-3 months at a time, the pay is close to double that just starting out

@@liljoker2180 both, it's just around 500 for the trip when they want you to relocate and 140-180 a day when you're there on top of hourly pay but it's tough work, especially going up towers. Starting out there's a lot of cleaning and watching the experienced technicians do the real stuff

very much depends what role you serve as a tech.. And what company and county.. they are vastly different. Construction 80 hours a week 120k easy...site tech.. 40-60 hours a week, 50-70k, other roles that travel and do both, somewhere in the middle. its not a constant
