Problem is they never gave a chance to DK to play at least 4 to 5 series on a trot. Look Rohit sharma his first 80+ odi matches his average his meagre 30+ and Dhoni gave him multiple chances then he became odi and T20 monster. You need to give backup continuously for talented players only then they can perform. In the case of Dk he will play only when someone is injured. Like this many examples can be given for DK. Dk had a phenomenal test series in England 07 conditions as an opener and then he was dropped for Australia test series 07-08😮. In South Africa conditions 06-07 test series he had scored a decent half century and again he has been dropped for Sehwag other 2 test matches who are woefully out of form. Only in 2018-19 DK got continuous opportunities in odi and his average hoovered around 45+. Throughout 2018-19 he played as a finisher role in odi and his average increased around 45+ in Odi. If you remember Dhoni was the one playing an anchoring role between 2018-19 in an odi setup and he use to come ahead of DK. But why did the strategy changed against New Zealand in worldcup semifinals ? Why role reverse ? DK asked to played anchoring role and Dhoni to play the finisher role 🤦. Is Dhoni is have problem with swing conditions or DK can be used as a scapegoat since he can be used to play anywhere🤦.
