Probably might want to add a bead of caulk or an exterior flat piece and then a bead of caulk on the flat peice and around the perimeter

I gave my window manufacturer the specs on the rough opening and I installed it per their instructions. To be honest, I agree, it's too gappy for my taste, but if you don't follow the manufacturer's instructions, you void the warrantee. YMMV

@@dumbasscontractors never do rough openings measure exact. Tell them exact. Leaving it up them them to subtract does cause issues. Also email measurements that way mistakes they make are on them. And trust me, they make mistakes a lot!

Window installer here, houses tilt over time, and the window frame that was once a □ now is more like a ◇. If you measure the window super tight and the frame is ◇, your window will be installed like a ◇ and it won't lock. Always order smaller, so you can have space to work with an unleveled frame! The gaps you just fill with spray foam

Suppliers will usually take rough measurements and subtract 1/2” on the width and height to give you 1/4” reveal all the way around. Of course if you’re out of square you can reduce the size you give them.

You are correct, there's a lot more to the process. The limiting factor is the 60 second length of the #short. I have to break the lesson down into small bites. Then I go back and edit the small bites into a longer video.
