Far too complex for average computer users. Doesn't Microsoft vet these features with non geeks? On top of the complexity, they change the names of items in menus so you have to figure out where to go by trial and error.

Finally, a thorough, thoughtful and complete tutorial on the subject! I opened this tutorial on both my Win10 and Win11 computers and literally stepped through each step in succession. The only difference I made is rather than create a share file on each computer, I made a single share folder which is now accessible on three shared computers. Any file dropped into the folder is immediately available on the other two. I love it when a plan (finally) comes together!

@@warpampee Once you create a shared folder on one computer which can be access on the other computer, that's all. You can use that folder to share files between the two computers just like using external drive or usb drive.

I disagree, My screens on the latest updates of Windows 10, look niothing like the ones in the video, has SOME of the same info, but no Domain or work group option, and its one window, no broken up like his is into panels inside the window.

Thank you so much! I had problem with my laptop which could not see my computer even though the setup was fine. My computer could see my laptop but not the other way around. When you give the tip to create a shortcut at around 7-8 min, that did the job. I looked so many times to find a solution. Thank you for giving the troubleshooting after setting up the parameters. 😊

For a while my pc could not locate the other device. I recalled configuring one of my network guest addresses to not allow visitors to discover/see any of my network devices but access to internet only. Once I switched to a network address without that setting, this worked as planned. Thanks again...good stuff.

This video actually helped me do this. I've been trying to get the damn computers to show up in the network, and they never did, but the shortcuts and the hidden "All Networks" properties at the bottom helped tremendously. Microsoft really doesn't want you to own your own network.

I like your short straight to the point video which makes perfect sense to me. I have tried doing this so many times. My main Desk Top (Windows 11) PC does not see the second PC (Windows 10 Lap Top) at all. I have tried so many times, via Ethernet, and also via wifi. The Main PC always fails to see the second PC.

1. The first and second computers must be connected to the same Wi-Fi router. 2. Creating an icon sometimes solves the problem: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bpZ8ftaFs9q0qpc.html 3. And most importantly, you must carefully follow the steps from the video and try not to make mistakes.

@@ipMalik Hello ipMalik Thank you very much for yourt kind reply. I only have one router at home, and both PC's are reading my BT (password) named router, so no issues there (as far as I know). I have come to the conclusion that the second PC (Lap Top) has locked it's self out from being discovered, if that is at all possible? Last night I had 3 PC's talking to each other, but within 20 minutes none of them were discoverable again? I get this all the time. I have been shareing for years, but the shared connection always fails, normally on upgrades. I am quite used to setting up 2 or 3 home PC's. I'm thinking, all the recent upgrades have caused my current issues. Over the years I have used external automation cards, and often following a windows upgrade it would kill the connection with the said card(s). I have no complaint with your excellent video. Thank you.

@@ipMalik There is another way of doing this, but only because one can, as it saves the user no time. Upload a said file to one's cloud. Go to the other PC and log-in to the cloud, and then start the download to that PC. It sort of defeats the object, 😃

@@fp30e Yes, uploading files to the cloud and providing access to another PC is a great option, especially since in this case the distance between the PCs will not matter at all. It's great, thanks and well done. Sometimes things are / look slightly different though. E.g. I was prompted to put in credentials (which I think should'nt've been the case- but it worked when I did - ID & Password). I.e. in the video you didn't need to put in log in details.

Excellent. Before watching this video, I did all steps, but couldn't discover both pc's in Network folder in file explorer and I thought I did something wrong. Now I know its possible for PCs not to be connected and not showing on Network folder in file explorer. We need to type PCs IP address or create shortcut to it. But what could be the cause? Why won't they show up in Network folder in file explorer, even after a reboot?

Last step is what it is. I did everything, all settings, even as suggested by windows with troubleshooting and adding file sharing discovery, and all failed with PC not visible under networks and even troublshooting shared folder comes back that I do not have permission. Only last step by typing network location directly, is what worked out. Thanks a lot Last, Windows will never get this right. Folder sharing have been a pain in the A** since windows 7 and yet. Windows is not able to figure it out.

It looks like this works for the people commenting below. I followed the step by step instructions and was hopeful but this didn't work. I wonder if my Norton 360 is blocking me from connecting with the other computers in my own house? Thanks for helping the other folks and I will have to try something else. We have two desktops and two laptops and I have tried so many times I am giving up for now.

I spent an entire day trying to figure out why my printer would no longer print over my network. Turns out, my network was very possibly deleted by a Windows update. All videos I could find for repairing network were obsolete. Windows network setup is far too complicated for the average person. Should be just one or two clicks. Thank you. I feel like I owe you for a repair job. 👍
