😅 No, I personally use bitlocker from the start on my laptop which is Asus TUF A15, it will not reduce any performance if you have a TPM chip, I have run multiple Crystal Disk Mark tests on it, with bitlocker and without bitlocker but speeds were the same. Don't worry if you have a TPM chip on your motherboard, and every window 11 laptop has TPM.

As some others pointed out, I use Bitlocker with Windows 11 Pro and also have no performance hit. My "C" drive is an M.2 NVMe Gen3 with 3,500 MBPS. If you want your data safe, you should use Bitlocker. If you back up your recovery key, it's not an issue. All smartphones are now encrypted, as are all Apple devices. Windows should have it on by default, and most OEMs have it enabled. My HP laptop came with Win 11 using Bitlocker.

bitlocker only slows down your pc during the encryption / decryption process. (i have tested bitlocker on vs off and I see no performance difference other than the encryption process)

I'm staying on heavily modified windows 10 until something doesn't work and then I switch to linux, and until that I will learn linux so maybe I'll switch even sooner

Best solution is, uninstall windows 11 and install a linux distro, learn how to use it and ditch windows forever.

Friend. You should try preview version 24h2 2600 . 1150 . with debloated , and bitlocker off , it runs damn close to ltsc . Actually, I checked and realized the iot ltsc 11 is something like version 24h2 build 1434 or similar , so it makes sense why Debloating home 24h2 ver 1150 feels so much like it .

Windows 11 sucked so bad i reverted back to windows 10 and runs fine with out issue.Bit locker maybe enabled automatic in 22h2 and 23 i had poor performance issues.

BS: Control Panel\System and Security\BitLocker Drive Encryption and I see everything is OFF, BitLocker at each Drives are OFF but still my PC slow.

Certainly hasn't slowed my machine down. If anything boot up is faster. I hate windows anyway but have to use it because of the programs I run. Anyways you keep up with what you're doing.

Modern laptop has TPM2 chip for this purpose and nowadays there are generally pci gen 3 and 4 ssds in laptop and desktop. So bitlocker will not slowdown it just a myth.

It's still a little unclear, but others who updated using the dev 24H2 say it won't encrypt an existing W11 drive. But a repair/recovery will. And a reinstall will just pull Windows Updates again. It would be easy though annoying to decrypt IF, as you say, that's allowed, . I'm sure we'll see a workaround if it isn't. Only problem is if every future security update re-encrypts the Windows drive and resets any hacks that prevent it. The worst thing I heard was that not only would the Windows drive be encrypted, but every drive with a drive letter would also be "bitlockered". Not sure that's true, but I sure don't want Microsoft touching my little NAS or encrypting my external backup drives (the "fire safe queens"). 🤬

Another reason to give M$oft the heave-ho. I installed Linux Mint on a laptop. Install wasn't that simple, but do-able. Now when I run it, it takes longer to boot up than Windows, BUT my Chrome browsing sessions go like a bat out of hell. Full marks.
